Cut Down Early Because of PM???

I am just wondering your views on what I should do. I have a 5 - 1000 watt grow going and I noticed a couple weeeks ago PM all over the back plants. Luckily they are only on the small buds facing away from the light. The biggest buds are okay except a few.

I let it go a week longer because it is an eight week strain and by that time it was only at the 6 week mark. So, now at 7 weeks things are looking worse and I am wondering if I should chop at 7 weeks or just let it go until 8?

For an experiment I cut off a bud with the PM on it and placed it over the fan of my carbon scrubber. It nearly blew most of the PM off and what was left was very hard to see. Also, most of the PM is not on the buds but on the fan leaves I am going to cut off anyways.

So, what is your opinion on the matter, cut now or wait the extra week? I usually get tighter nugs if I wait until 8 weeks. If cut at 7 they will be just as large but not as dense. Any idea's?

Cut now and trash anything with PM on it. Don't let people smoke this stuff it can cause pneumonia and kill you. Get a sulfer burner, and get your Rh down in flower. How is your venting?

I know the correct answer is the one above...however, I also know you are not gonna want to trash a 5K grow!!
Go out and get some Greencure, it is safe to use on veggies up to 1 hour before harvest, there is no smell either--
That should keep it from getting worse, and also knock it down pretty well--
It will not be perfect, and you will have to make a personal call on what you save and what you don't--
Another thing you can do, is take the plants after cutting them, and spray the shit out of them with a spray nozzle on the garden hose...it will help to wash some of it off-- You may lose a few trichs...but better than trashing the lot--

There are ways to kill the PM and make it safe for the end user. Doom and Gloom advice usually is a bit much, especially with a 5k grow. There are always solutions.

My grow was one plant not 5k, but here's what I did. I got PM from an imported clone (always quarantine now) and I didn't notice that the one in flowering had been affected until after a few weeks.

I controlled it with a 10-15% skim milk mixed with water. This works pretty good if you do it every 5 days. I had the advantage of being able to take the plant out and put it in the shower to spray it down.

At about 10 weeks I saw it was creeping into some of the lower buds. I expect it would have gone 11 possibly 12 weeks to full maturity but it was close to being done.

I vigorously sprayed it down to wash anything off and put fans all over it, keeping the light on. When I was sure it was completely dried out I chopped, about 8h later. I laid it all out in a single layer in my budaerator (cardboard box lined with wax paper and window screen over the top) and left it in the cab under a fan with the light on the whole 2 days until it was BONE dry.

When I chopped I was very careful to separate out buds with any visible signs of infection and luckily it was only a few of the lower ones. By drying it very quickly I kept it from continuing to spread as the buds were drying. I qwiso'd the infected stuff.

All in all, I'm not happy that I got PM, but I'm happy with the course of action I took. My yield suffered a little, but it's good smoke and the iso is some of the best I've had.

I wouldn't wait to chop, it can spread very quickly throughout the buds and if it does you're screwed unless you want to make a ton of qwiso. Be vigilant during harvest to make sure you're culling any infected buds so you don't end up smoking them. I would dry them asap with fans and lights on full time or it will continue to spread through the buds after you've chopped them. I wouldn't put it in a bag or any other airtight container until it's absolutely dry.

Just my two cents after going through it myself recently.

I chopped them (all he largest buds that were not effected) and dried out the smaller buds bone dry just to try something out. After they were bone, I blew all the mildew off and not a trace can be seen. I am going to keep these for my personal stash and sell the rest. I still got 8 good pounds of PM free killer, so I guess it didn't turn out to bad. Thanks for the advice!

Disassemble all non porous materials, wash in 5% bleach solution and reassemble. Wash walls, floors and ceiling. Any porous materials, throw in the trash.
