Curtis Mayfield fan here!!! He was the main inspiration for the artist "prince" .But besides that Curtis Mayfield was the equivalent then, of what gangstar rap is today.Rap when it still had music.

Very unique singing style and extremly funky.Ive gathered a bunch of his stuff over the years and the ones that i like the best his albums:

"Got to find a way" - serious inner city funk,the whole thing is full of great guitar stuff too

"Future ShocK" - a great album about the worlds problems and extremly funky

"Give.Get.Take and have" ..Rappin about taken women home an gettin down,its a sweet funky joint.....More soulish but funky singing patterns that leave you thinking ,never heard this before,about as black as black music getts

Those are my 3 favs ,But the 1st album is great ,as is sweet exorcist.SuperFly sountrack is what he is best known for .But def not his greatest work.His singing voice and style is so unique.One of my favorite black artists

Singer/Songwriter. Curtis was a Genius! I loved all of his stuff, escpecially the songs he did with the Impressions - People Get Ready, It's Alright, I'm So Proud. Then moving on into the 70's .........don't get me started.
