curling leaves under 12/12

i have a strain i call pink diesel i started from seed about a year ago. it is a stinkey pinkey x diesel. during flowering the leaves all turn very dark green almost black and curl up long ways it doesent seem to effect plant just looks weird. i grow organic. filthy rich potting soil perlite and wormcastings added. fox farm nutes mixed as directed. sorry no camera. any ideas i have 4 other strains growing side by side and the pd is the only one to do this. ihave good ventalation temps run 70 to 80. 1800 w in a 5ftx5ft x 8ft high room.

i've had i think, mag/nit overdoses where the leaves looked super duper too dark green, almost a slight mottle to it in variation of pitch green greenness. can you overfert with organic potting soil? maybe the nutes. you might want to look at the complete guide to plant troubles, it has alot of shots of sickly leaves you might be able to match up / match description of causes.

if you find matches, let us know here which ones. also, do you know your water quality? pH, hardness?

there are some strains which are undoubtedly more prone to this behaviour indoors, but with few exceptions ultimately it should be possible to redress

nutrients, watering (inc. technique) and light are all likely causes

equatorial sativas and their hybrids can be tricky in this regard - some, inc. some Hazes, can not like too much light ... and others will curl if they do not get enough light

Afropips' Malawi cultivar is very prone to leaf curl - even outdoors in hot, dry and bright environments many leaves can curl and eventually fall off during flowering, but leaf curl does not seem to impact vigour or yield, this is in fact pretty convenient

thanks for the tip causal but nothing matched up. i have heard on another thread that diesel gets real dark leaves but i couldent get jdog to respond about it.

do you notice this action happening at certain parts of the plant, and spreading?

ie. starts on old growth, bottom plant, or 'new growth is dark green (having a similar experience atm, but it's within tolerances') or do you notice anything else? do the veins turn a contrasting color?

do the leaves dimple at all, turn flimsy, dry up then die to a crisp in an accelerating fashion (per leaf, not plant)?

if you're not finding any other weird things happening too, or you don't notice this 'problem' having certain traits (mobile deficiency, stunted new growth, whatever others) associated with it on the plant, i would just chalk it up to a slight over ferting on an element, but nothing too bad to cause lockout of others (having seen no pictures, just running through my decision matrix here kinda)...

i dunno? are they really curling up (like upwards, as if the leaf could hold water because it's edges are so much higher. or does the leaf curl, in effect 'curling up' but it's curling downwards, with the tips pointing down?

those little ones (few weeks from seed, pruned sun leaves for topping/bushing quicker) are 'curled', especially in the front most one you can see what i mean about curling down. i don't have any i guess of up curled ones..

wait, like those? upward pointing is good in my experience, but i don't know if you rleaf margins are rolling up or not.

hey causual the plants look great all through veg about 2 weeks into flower all the leaves start getting real dark and thick feeling and curl downwards and under ie rams horn. the plant super diesel smelling every one luvs the taste and high. i currently am cutting back on nutes to see what happens. love your pics. like i said earlier none of my other strains have this problem if it is a problem.

It's just an N tox...cut the grow big outta the flowering cycle (after week 2) and they'll straighten out in a few days.

it's not that unusual for a sativa or sativa dom to get leaf curl indoors mate - look at the pics of Columbians, Malawis etc in there ... as I say, a lot of things can cause it - watering, N, too much or too little light, too rich soil etc.

it won't slow growth, so I wouldn't worry about it - if you continue to grow the strain, you will be able to work out what it causing it - in the meantime, I wouldn't let it worry you

from what you have said the most likely cause is the "filthy rich potting soil"

btw is that meant to be "casual grower" or "causal grower"?
