Curling is not a sport

Plant: Orangeberry
Medium Coir
Light 1000 hps plant kept some distnace from light

good ventilation

ferts fox farm, tiger bloom

been given a medium amount
and cal mag supplement/

The leaves on this lovely plant are curling upward, and practically inward on them selves....rolling might be a better way to say it. keeping distance from a light, and from fans/air.
ideas?

thanks

Seedynono posed valid questions. Heat stress is the most likely answer to your problem. Leaves first curl upward, next they yellow and wither. Even if your HPS is on a 'safe' distance, it all depends on the temperature and humidity in your growroom. The hotter and drier it is, the further away the lamp goes. Stepping up extraction/fan ventilation will not do, because air movement will remove leaf moisture and increase transpiration stress.
Apart from that, Mg deficiency can cause leaves to curle upwards, and yellow around the edges. But you're running cal/mag supplement...

Are some strains significantly more sensitive to heat stress ......there are three to four other strains in there.....none of which are having this reaction. This is the strain that has the highest amount of indica in it...maybe that is saying everything....what you think?
I will move away from the light even further, and reduce amt of blowing air.

its much more of a headache when you have several types going at the same time they have diffrent needs. sucks ill never do more than 6 again..lol
but it does sound like heat stress that thew only time i ever seen or heard of plants rolling up like that. good lck

yes all strains react differently to heat, sativa can handle more heat issues where indica cant handle the heat as well, some sativa dominant strains can handle 100+ temps outdoors.....

can you give more details about your growing conditions to like all the nutrients you are using how much and how often?

temps humidity?

how close is the 1000 watter? how many feet?

how tall are the plants?
what size pots are they in?

what ph are your plants at? run off?

Okay, the pots are black plastic, and this is a three gallon. The plant is apprx 36 inches tall. Fox farms tiger bloom or the other...once a week two capfuls per two gallon jug of water. Also feeding Cal mag, three capfuls once a week...for both.

They are watered twice weekly, and i have cut down the amount of ventilation since it is cooler outside now. THANK GOODNESS> i can grow again.

the temps are hitting low to mid eighties, and our humidity is negligible. tops of twenty per cent. after watering! getting nice bud sites, nicely sized....so i am believing it is the heat.

The leaves are not getting as ugly as things do with ph issues, but i will test run off in the next 7 days. havent done that in a couple of years.

best and thank you all

oh, and the thousand watt is about four and one half feet away. last night i practically moved this baby three more feet away to seven feet.

You should know that some leaves that still appear okay probably fried as well and will continue to wilt for a while, even if you're on a safe distance now.
