Curling cotyledons

So I'm trying to figure out what's up w/ my plants as soon as possible..

How long has this problem been going on? a day or two
What STRAIN are you growing? Alaskan Ice/Bag Seed
What was the establishing technique? (seed or clone?) Seed
What is the age of your plants? planted on 11/08
How Tall are the plants? 1-3 inches
What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in? seedling
What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot) 5oz cups per seedling
What substrate/medium are you using? What brand of soil mixture are you using?(percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?) 50% Miracle Grow Seedling Starter/40% FFOF/10% Miracle Grow Perlite
What Nutrient's are you using? none
What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"? will test after next watering
How often are you watering? lightly every day
What size bulb are you using? 2 40W T12
What is the distance to the canopy? 1-3 inches
What is your RH Factor? (Relative Humidity) 50%
What is the canopy temperature? 73
What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include fluctuation range) 70-75
Is the fan blowing directly at plants? yea, it's off right now though
Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist? moist to slightly moist to somewhat dry (I'm trying to use the pot lift method)
Is your water HARD or SOFT? I'm going to start using tap w/ measures consistently 7.2-7.3. I've been using bottled and I didn't test the pH
What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water? I've been using bottled, specifically Zephyrhills Spring, going to try tap next watering
Are you using water from a water softener?no
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched? no
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when?no
Are plant's infected with pest's? no

I was thinking that it was the FFOF but the one seed that I started in only MG seed starter is curling as well and even has a yellow tip. I'm going to try and get some pictures up within the hour.

that mix is too hot, I don't know what miracle grow seed mix is though, never seen it.

Babies need no ferts, plain old peat moss mixed with perlite or vermiculite is all they need for quite some time.

you need to get them all out of that mix or anything labeled miracle grow or anything with ferts in it, need to do it soon as you can

MG perlite has ferts in it too.

yeah that's what I was thinking... the seed starter is 0.05-0.01-0.05

should I put them in beer cups w/ this stuff?

f it- i'll do what you said and get some peat moss w/ perlite

thx mexil, they're in cups of peat w/ added perlite. If this somehow works out and I grow some buds the first bowl will be dedicated you :rasta:

here's a picture of them... since the picture I buried them almost all the way to the leaves leaving a little space.. but I'm wondering if the seedlings should be so close to the light or if the light should even be on.. ya know, to let the plant focus on rooting in the new cups and not growing up.. or am I high and thinking too much?

lol I just realized the plants are on my LSAT book.. too funny.. almost forgot this..

you should repot them in just the miracle gro seedling mix. the ffof is prolly hot for the seedlings. the miniscule amount of nutes in the seedling mix shouldnt hurt em. not with those numbers. the numbers in the perlite are negligible also. if anything is hurting your babies its the ffof. they will be fine with no nutes for the 1st 2 weeks at the very least.

the lights are at a good height. its not that hot with flouros and this will eliminate some of that early stretch for the first week of growth where they are reaching out for the light.

FFOF is good stuff and all you need from start to finish. Use straight FFOF.. or if you want to add anything to that then jsut mix more perlite. All You need. Straight water is all you need until your plants get around 4-6 weeks old. Of course you're the only one that's able to tell what your plants need or don't need at the right times.

I've read this a bunch on this site and I'm seeing more and more that it's true.

I'm not convinced that I figured it out though b/c the one plant in the seed starter did the same thing w/ the leaves. I guess if the 2nd set of leaves curls now that they're in the moss/FF perlite I'll have to look at other things that might be causing it..

here's to learing :rasta:

thx again everyone

trust me home skillet. they dont need any nutes the 1st couple of weeks. all the energy they need is stored in the cotyledons. once those start drying up then its time to feed. or in this case transplant em into the ffof.

- FFOF is not hot for seedlings, not sure about the miracle grow
-measure PH when in doubt
-bring the light closer, those babies are mad reaching
-simpler is always better, FFOF and perlite. adjust stuff when you have a couple grows done

-they look fine to me, I don't see a problem ??? leave them for a couple days and let them do there thing
