I asked this question on OG about 11 years ago. Never got an answer. I think it was OG. Might have been CW. It's been a long time. Good luck.

Cucumbers do have a distinct and absolutely identifiable scent. It's subtle but unmistakable, in my opinion. I absolutely love it. If I could find a strain that smelled like that I'd be in heaven.

Just based on what I have laying around on hand, I'm gonna go with Lambsbread as a possible suggestion for ya. I have no clue where our local Lambsbread cut comes from or if it is even legitimately real deal LB, but it has a very distinctly sweet cucumber/melon smell with an astringent/menthol background and tastes extremely sweet and hashy. Really love this stuff, maybe somebody who knows the strain better can chime in on if this looks/sounds like the LB :tiphat:

couple of bad pics for shits n giggles-

and one more of the "grapefruit pheno" of Soma's NYCD, according to my circle anyways. Haven't done a full run with this cut yet so I can't comment on growing it, but man, the buds sure do fit the descriptions I've read for the pheno and it is really delicious pot. once again, anybody with more experience with nycd should chime in and let me know :tiphat:

I cut up cucumbers everyday at work. When I open the cucumber box everyday I get a slight, melon but not a fruity melon. It just has that slight bit of musk if you know what I mean.

I can not say what strain to look for unfortunately. But fumy thing is, I just cut a bud from some bagseed the other day. After hanging for 2 days I inspected the bud for smell and dryness, and noticed that before handling the bud it smelled to me like the rind of watermelon. And when I seen this post I realized the watermelon rind smells a lot like cucumber, lol. But, when I touched the buds more aroma was released and masked melon rind/cucumber smell. It was more like juicy-fruit gum after handling the bud. Although the taste is more floral/spicy. Anyways just thought is was funny that my bud smelled like that while drying just as another in this thread mentioned.

Good luck.

to me cucumber is closer to herbs than melons imo
with that being said-the lambsbread is a real good choice!
the same smells are evident in SAGE as well-a cucumberish parsley smell
You can also mix your own smells and flavors by breeding
for example, we run a home bred cross godbud X white widow
the godbud was dank complex fruits and kush. the widow was typical spearmint
the result is a smell just like real NL tastes! Pine for days
I love opening that jar for the contrast alone to the diesels and chem hybrids i regularly imbibe
Search out old school sativas and hybrids-if your on the west coast see if you can find BSHW-it is the mom in the SAGE strain
Good luck!

I totally disagree. To me cucumber smells nothing like any herb or spice, especially not sage! But does resemble melon rind.

Also note that many low smell strains will likely smell like this when they are cut early.

Peace

I grew a pheno of pot of gold from the flying dutchmen, and it smells exactly like melon rind. Yeilds well also. Just isnt the most potent thing in the world.

Hi, guess I got lucky. I grew 1 Bag-Seed Fem. and got melon-rind smell from fresh, or semi-dried. However when pinched it stank like juicy-fruit gum. Smoke was light in flavor, but resembled a bit of spiciness, accompanied by a slight fruity/hashy flavor.Potency was far above any commercial, and very enjoyable.

Id agree and say that cucumber has a melon scent/taste not sweet melon, more of a mild green melon .

This trait is quite unique ,but after my experience with many strains and their resemblence to everday things an many other indescriable notes .I have had my first experience with cumcumer in cannabis

Hillbilly haze pheno #1, you can check my smoke report for detail
