Crossing THC strains, with just hemp?

Hey guys, I heard some where that in the CBD world of things, breeders and growers are crossing regular thc strains, with just plain old industrial hemp, and somehow are making good low thc and high CBD strains? Is this true? and if anyone has any information on this topic that would be great!

I had hoped someone would cross hemp to high Thc strains to produce a high(ish) Thc plant that flowers nice n early for us northern growers (50+ lat)

Hi!
I dont know what they really use. But they say they use selected clones high in cbd(cannatonic,charlottes,...).
A friend years ago (early 90's) grew some hemp coming from bird's food and it was shite! The taste was horrible and it barely has any effect, if any. I guess it's possible by selection to make something smokable out of such a cross. But i doubt it.
My guess it will just lower thc and give that horrible taste in the f1. But tbh i dont know.

prolly true.. what are you looking for some seeds or clones of high cbd stuff? or are you looking for a 1:1 ratio thc to cbd or wat?

Not an expert on CBD-rich strains, but the people involved in the "CBD Crew"-projects with Shantibaba et al. are not using hemp in their strains; they use CBD-rich chemotype ( ..the right term??) they found in normal high-thc lines.

The CBD-rich plant that started their project comes from Soma's NYCD-line.
