crossing lowryder#1 male with max 5 differrent strains

hi all
tiphat.gif

this will be my first journal here and hope i have chosen the right section to place it.

i have experience growing and doing seedruns without crossing to get seeds for outdoors or indoor grows without having to buy on the net as i see that as a risk

i have only little experience though with crossbreeding and especialy with autos as i have only done one run with lowryder#1 to get the pollen for this project and an outdoor grow LR#1 that i have at the moment, so only little experience with autoflowerring (reason for that is that i havent grown for 13 years and just started again about 6 months ago)

my main goal is to get a good cross between the LR#1's and Scott's OG from rare dankness.

when i purchased the scott's i got 3 freebee seeds and bought one extra girl scout cookie fem seed cause i heared and read so much about it i just had to have it :)

the strains i got are offcoarse the scott's and the GSC, but also amnesia lemon, blue cheese and cookies kush.. last 3 from barney's seeds and all femmed

first i just wanted to pollinate the scotts but i have deceided to pollinate all strains i got with the LR#1 pollen to make f1 seeds for outdoors and/or indoors next year.

its gonna be a real challenge as i lack experience on all these strains but since its for personal use only and more hobby then serious breeding, i dont mind the hurdless to overcome.
offcoarse i still hope for it to go as good as i can let it and will deffenately apreciate any tips and help or comments along the way.

also i have done a lot of research on these strains and auto's in particular. for the last 10 months i spend about 4-6 hours a day getting information reading forums and watching grow videos on the "tube"

setup:

-room is about 100 cubic feet (LxWxH=4x5x5)
-air suply is from a fan with max capacity of 188 cubic meters and gets air from outside to the room
-scrubber is a can original (type can333) max 350 cubic meters and have a boxed fan with max capacity of 500 cubic meter to suck air out through the scrubber (fan hangs inside the box on rubber laces for max noise reduction)
-light is provided by a 600W hps with i think should suffice for the size of room i have.. (hoping to go over to LED lighting maybe during this grow or for the next)

have allready started germinating scotts og yesterday and put first 3 beans that had a nice tail allready into soil this evening

the blue cheese, amnesia lemon, cookies kush and girl scout cookies i have put between the paper towels tonight hoping to be able to put those and at least 2 more scotts in the soil tommorow or the day after having 9 plants alltogether (some of the scotts will be male so i guess i will end up with 6-7 plants to finish)

will take clones of each plant during growth so when this grow is done i will do a male only run to get pollen from the scotts and then do the female clones again to pollinate them all with scotts pollen (should also be a good chance to find some nice hybrids from those i think .. but thats for a later project.

well enough for now and hope i can show some pics of the first grow signs tomorow ;)

Stabilizing rudralis strains with photosensitive genes to be 100% auto takes selective crossing till the F4 gen.

yep i know. possibly to F7 to get it at least a bit stabilised :)

its a long road but i am looking forward to it :)

like i said its a hobby and if id wanna go easy id just grow some clones. but i wanna see if i can get me a plant that is suitable for the outdoor conditions here but a good smoke non the less

i want as much as the traits from the scotts as possible and only get the auto and the height trait of the lowryder ;)

thx for your comment though ;)

first 3 seeds have shown their head above ground today all 3 scott's og.

the other 4 seeds (GSC, cookies kush, blue cheese and amnesia lemon) have all germed and been put in soil this morning.

am a bit dissapointed with the germ rate of the scott's though cause only 3 of 6 germed

off coarse i might have done something wrong but i did it as i allways do with the paper towel method.
just a week ago i have put 60 of my own lowryder seeds from last run between towels and 59 of 60 germed and also the other 4 strains all germed so normaly i have good germ rate...

will put 2 more scotts between towels later on today hoping they will both germ so i will have 9 plants total to start with

i want 5 scotts so i can choose best male and female to pollinate the scotts and the other 4 strains on the next run (will make 3 clones of each plant and will grow the males out to get pollen when this crossbreeding project is finished)

can anyone tell me if the scotts are known for a bit poor germination or if using another method might give a better chance of good germ rate?

thx for all comments and tips

the other 4 strains all have their heads above soil no too.

only strange thing is thast the girl schout cookie doesnt have a stem the cotyles and first leaves are right above the soil so not even a milimeter above ground

think that i made too deep a hole when i inserted it into the soil and didnt press the soil well enough. probably the seed sank down furter into the soil after i pessed the soil so the stem is not visible and cotyles had a hard time getting above soil

i have carefully scratched some soil around the leaves away now so it gets light and can grow higher .. hope it will raise itself cause if it doesnt it will be coverred with soil again when waterring

pics will follow later on today when i will check em after dark periode (lights at 18/6)

Stabilizing rudralis strains with photosensitive genes to be 100% auto takes selective crossing till the F4 gen.

You should have pure auto flowering seed line in the F3 generation when crossing photo x auto.

The F2 generation should produce 25% fully autoflowering plants. Choose wisely in the F2 generation, from a large pool, the best of the best (purely subjective according to what you get that you like) & you'll more than likely be successful in reaching your goals.

If you would like more influence from the Scotts...
Back crossing to the Scotts OG P1 of the F1 cross should strengthen its influence. This can be done anytime After the first gen cross. Just be sure your using autoflower plants to hit (or get hit by) the Scotts again.

Good luck with your project. I hope you reach your goal of an auto Scotts OG.

thx for the information MJ,

i have done a lot of research on this subject last 10 months and i have a few traits i want and the rest are up to what i get from the F1 seeds.

i hope to get as much traits of the scotts as i can especialy bud structure, potency, smell/taste and looks (colouring of leaves and hairs)

from the lowryder i just want the auto trait and the heighth as most important

hope ill indeed have auto's 100% F3 soon so i can start picking from that and stabilize it more

as for the backcrossing i wil probably try to do that after F2, thats also a reason why the F3s eventualy take a Bit longer. am also not sure if i can speak of F3 then cause there is a run in between so its gonna be F2 and a half or so lol

hi all here is an update on the little ones

they are doing well so far just have one plant that behaves a bit different from what i expected.

all are starting to get bushy except for the cookies kush..
it grows fast and had large internodes making it look more like sativa then indica and i havent seen or read about cookies kush having a sativa pheno.

if anyone has experience with cookies kush i would apreciate it very much if you can tell me if you have seen a pheno like the one i have..

anyways here are the pics

scott's og are at day 14
the blue cheese, amnesia lemon and cookies kush are at day12
the girl scout cookies are at day 11

Stabilizing rudralis strains with photosensitive genes to be 100% auto takes selective crossing till the F4 gen.

I was already slightly afraid of Ruderalis.

Now I'm even more afraid.

But I bet it comes in real handy for people who need the plant to fit a schedule !

If it makes good smoke, I'll smoke it. Maybe I should try one of those Auto Fem's that came as a freebie.

I would'nt bother. Lowrider has the worst high( more like headache) I've ever had.

If you must use autos, pick one of the new generation autos, these should actually be worth growing.
( better high and yield, lowrider yield is low, low low.)

@mack 10 i used the lowryder cause it's less crossed with other strains.

imo when you cross strains you get traits from both strains, therefor: the less its allready been crossed with the more of the newly selected strain has a chance to implement its traits

in other words i hope to get as much of the scott's and only the auto and maybe some height from the LR's wich will be eadier to detect cause the lowryder is very differrent from the scotts

its just my understanding of breeding (crossing strains) in general, so correct me if im wrong ;)

@St. Phatty dont be afraid m8 its just a matter of trial and error and you never know what you might encounter on the bumby road

thx for the comments allways apreciated;)
