Cross (fully auto) x (standard strain)

If you used an auto, ie lowlife ak47 and crossed it with an early finishing outdoor strain for northern latitudes, (ie biddy early/purple power/easy sativa from female seeds)

What would the finishing times of the f1 seeds "in general" be?

Would some of them fully auto, with most having 2-3 weeks off the usual finishing time of pure biddy early?

I'm considering doing an indoor seed run of some quick finishing outdoor strains crossed with fully automatic strains and hoping the f1 produce really fast finishing genetics of plants that will yield per plant similar amounts to "12/12" strains, yet take several weeks off finishing time of the "12/12" strains

What do the pot scientists think of this idea

Thats a good idea.

You're correct, Generally the LR addition to a Regular photoperiod strain will knock a few weeks in flowering time off.

I don't think you would see any fully AF in the F1's though, you might have a higher chance of seeing a larger propertion being fully AF in the F2's though.

You should go for it though, for sure.. would be very interesting.

P.S sorry if that isn't very scientificly answered :)

Ive grown an a few auto biddy earlys before, its a auto cross my friend made... Fastest finishing auto ive grown, finished around 55-60 days, and pretty much EVERYTHING resistant!...

I've been thinking this same thing. I grow in the upper midwest. I have great soil, adequate moisture and a long hot summer. Unfortunately my area is prone to late September frosts, so I can't get the hazes and other late plants to mature. I've got a nice racy strain of Early Sativa i've kept true for several years, but it too could often use a little more season.

This year I am going to cross Low Ryder2 with a Danish plant -- HFH's Hash Plant. This HFH plant is semi-auto at 55n. I'm curious how it will behave at 42n. I also like that this plant has 25% amnesia haze in it's makeup.

I'm also going to cross Female Seed's Purple Maroc (another semi-auto) with LR2 with the same goal in mind.

I'm hoping to get better yields than with lowryder2's and reliable late summer harvests.

When talking about F1's crosses with autos, you should forget about autoflowering genes, because they are hidden and don't have influence on flowering period. Let's say we cross fast finishing indica with some auto that was created with sativa strain. The offspring will vary - some plants will finish just like indica and some will inherit sativa genes that will lenghten the flowering time. The good thing is - crossing different strains will give vigorous offspring and high will be often a pleasant surprise ;)

I dont believe that if you crossed a "standard" 12/12 indica, with an auto sativa not one of the offspring would have a longer flowering period than the "standard".

regardless of the auto being heavily sativa or not, the fact that its auto would shorten the flowering period of any 12/12 strain. never lengthen it.

thats my take on it, maybe lowlife or mdanzig can comment to clear this up
