...something tells me that thing will barely lower the temp...a window mounted air-con is about $120...maybe get that and cool the whole room?...

more info about your room would be helpful here...

i wouldnt shoot for an air conditioner quite yet. there may be other things that you can do to help cool it down.

what are the closet's dimensions?

what type of lighting being used? is this air cooled? if yes what cfm fan? what size ducting used?

are you pulling or pushing air across the bulb?

intake size? what are the ambient air temps being pulled in?

there are MANY factors here...

using cfl's closet is 10 long x 4'deep x 7 or 8' tall im using a 6'' inline duct fan moving 250fph and a 350fph fan to help push it and pull heat off bulbs. its in the back of my apt. so intake is basically impossible and have a good fan blowing on them.... my apt. doesnt get much cooler than 80 alone unless i pump central air but the girlfriend hates cycling air n it hurts my allergies so thats not really an option

cfls and youre having heat issues?

and you have no fresh air coming in, or any leaving the closet?-problem #1 (in more ways than one)

blowing the same hot air around the room will do you no good as far as cooling or getting your plants some co2.

your humidity has to be high as well?

you need air coming in and out of that closet, period.

get yourself a scrubber and a duct fan and exchange that air using a negative pressure method. (pulling air from inside the room and out) with a passive intake at the bottom of the room. this will ensure no stink gets out.

now ambient air temps are going to play a factor here on how cool youre going to get it.

but start with what i recommended and go from there. however, being in an apartment makes this a whole lot harder. but there is always a way around things.

im running a passive intake now but its not helping much..... may just get the conditioner.... but a door off craigslist the same size and cut a hole for it i guess.....

^ there we go. lots of good info in that thread...

yeah thats a good start, get yourself a cheap door you can hack up and modify for what you need.

ideally this is not the setup to go for, but should help quite a bit in your case to cool it down.

make a passive intake at the bottom of the door, and powered exhaust out the top.

at the bottom, inside the room face a fan towards the back so the fresh air has a better chance at circulating all the way through the room. "ideally" youd want your intake opposite the exhaust side.

now light proofing this is now going to be the next trick.
well, and hiding it.

yea def thinking window air conditioner for 100ish because im currently running like 6 fans between intake/ exhaust and circulation over all its a big hot spot in my house which sucks

this is my fresh air intake new temp door which slide in and outta place n/p dosent wear on the carpet. this set up i've had in place 4 yrs now inside my closet is 5ft deep 7 ft wide i use approx 4x4 erea. to the left upper is mu can 33 carbon sir scrubber 6 in flange 6 inch insulated ducting. 6inch air cooled hood 6 in eco pluss inline fan draws all air through filter ducting hood and out into my attic. i live in the mohave desert our summer temps get above 115 outside my temps in there dont exceed 83 degrees i run a 1k hps in there. currently my temps in there lights on average 75-76
heres 9 plants in 2 gal grow bags FFOF soil 2 days ago @32 days of 12/12 lighting

end of my flowering suggestion onto my veg suggestion

above is my veg box notice in the lower right door are 3 x 1 and half inch holes for fresh air intake

this 4in fan draws all heat out and back into my room for air intake on the closet

i also veg usen CFL's
hope this helps

added
i painted the air intake on the closet door black so light dosent really reflect back inside very little dose. i run a strain that needs total darkness long as shes in the mid or rear of the grow she fine no nanners because of light leaks

a window air conditioner is going to cool the room the closed closet is in, correct?

if theres no ventilation to that closet, an air conditioner is almost worthless anyway. the temp in the closed room is going to be the temp... in the closed room. and basically your closet is a room within a room.

why not reduce the number of fans, to say maybe 2-3 tops?
one duct fan, and one or two oscillating fans.

it could also be beneficial having an a/c unit... the idea here is to cool the air either inside the closet, or the ambient air being drawn into the closet.

either way, the closet needs ventilation.

Maj.PotHead you put some serious work into that cab. Great Job.

If your in a house id suggest putting an exhaust in the closet. At one time i was using a bathroom exhaust fan i installed in my closet. Your first problem is to get rid of the spent air. GL LL
