cooling a sealed room

after finding almost no information about swamp chillers, which I had thought might be the best route for cooling a 3kw sealed room, I've begin to wonder again. what would be the best method, and easiest to install to cool a 3kw sealed room? I am really curious

8" 750cfm centrifugal exhausting somewhere outside the room is good enough for 3-4 1000w HPS in what I've read. IIR, this was done in a sealed-hood system, with independent intake/exhaust just for the lights.

My reflector pulls ambient flowering room air instead of "fresh" intake air and exhausts into a carbon filter outside the room. I also have another 6" carbon filter and centrifugal on standby in case I don't want to run the 8" during the nights; I would just have the 6" system cycle the room's air 24/7, and the 8" handle daytime heat.

swmp coolers add allot of humidity thats how they work. Your dehumidifier and your swamp will fight each other. Get a mini split or a full window AC.

A/C is the obvious answer, but how big and what kind depends on a number of factors. Are your lights in cooled reflectors? How big is your room?

my lights are air cooled reflectors, my room is 6x15x8(height). I dont want to deal with mini split installation, and dont have a window. this is a partition of a bigger room, but I'm concerned about the exhaust of a window ac being really hot. I really want something self contained inside the room if possible, thanks for the replies, I appreciate any input.

anyone know if the dual hose portable ac's really exhaust enough room air to make a huge difference? if its only a little, then it would be worth the difference of 600 ad 1600.

My 18k btu window ac does the trick cooling my sealed room, 12x16. Just cut a hole in the wall and mount it. It does exhaust some hot air, but not too bad with the air cooled lights. You can make a box to fit over the back of the ac and vent the heat somewhere else if you have to. 4 thousands air cooled with a 740cfm 8" fan, drawing air from outside the room and exhaustinig it out as well as to not suck out co2. Don't have experience with portables cuz I heard they're not worth it.
 
The most effecient way to cool a room would be a window a/c unit in your case, but if you're not interested in cutting a small hole in your wall, then the two hose setup will work, just get a unit with correct number of btu's. Just so you know, the portable hose units run quite a bit more, not really worth the added cost imo, so CUT THE DAM HOLE. Hope this helped.
 
check out my sealed room design thread, heres the link http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=97181&page=3&pp=15 what can i say i love this community. to give you a quick anwser. go with a split a/c they are not that hard to install yourself and it only requires one small hole (3-4") for coolent lines and power. if you must go with a portable a/c make absolutly sure you get a dual hose, but keep in mind this means two 6" holes in the wall. if you have access to a cheap supply of cold water, theres the cooler option also.

I asked if they were the same thing as a swamp cooler and if they produced alot of humidity and this was the reply I got.

Yes it is a swamp cooler basically,
Does add humidity, but not a lot, still would want a dehumid though.
Nice thing is they use very little power
Bad thing they use a lot of water
