cooling 3x600w hps

need little advice i'm kinda consulting on another grow setup the question is.


in a grow erea 10ft deep 4ft wide 4 ft tall would like to place 3 - 600w hps lights remote ballasts, and cool tubes run in conjunction - inline.
would a 8inch vortex or dayton be sufficient enough to extract the heat from the 3x600w hps's in cool tubes.
if so should the cool tubes be passive not forced, or forced air across the bulb's via small fan up into the main exhaust ducting for the 8in fan to grab ??

this grow erea is under stairs storage lighted and electric outlets a hall closet is the enterance the closet is like any normal closet except this space in back under stairs. perfect for our hobby 1 wall is stairway up other wall is bedroom, bedroom wall is where the fresh air intakes will be placed darkroom lovers will be used more en likely 2 each side of wall. heat is really my main concern at 1st only 1 - 600w hps will be used and some of my donner clones to get dialed in. my knowladge can handel extracting 600w hps heat but 3x600w i have no clue except that it has to be very hot lol. as far as A/C it will be house unit the money is there for proper equipment but still needs to be w/in reason on the budget $wise.

An 8" will be fine...no need to use any other fans in the ducting run.

I assume you're running it like this:

Scrubber > Light > Light > Light > Fan > exhaust point?

If you're running it like that, just make sure that the intake point for the air cooling (aka scrubber) is at the opposite side of the room from the intake and chunk a couple of oscillating fans in there and you'll be set.

4ft tall total or 4ft of growing space? If its 4ft total thats gonna take some ingenuity but Im sure you can pull it off. Thats a sick little thing you have though. Got yourself a hidden grow room!


On the A/C, they work much better in sealed rooms IMO. A better option would be to cool down the temps of the space that you are pulling air from. You can get a cheap 5k window unit at walmart for $100. Mount that bitch in the window of the bedroom your pulling air from and your golden. In the winter you won't even have to use it.

On the cooltubes, they work better if you have them isolated from the room. As in your not venting through them. If you can swing it use that 8" fan to vent the room and get a 6" fan to vent the lights. I know you said you were on a budget, I know EXACTLY how that is.

yes we could run the ducting like that would just need to place intake's other end of wall n/p. as for the grow erea dem its 4ft wide x 10ft deep {in} x 4 ft H and then a normal closet , make a false wall w/door for the grow box lol and badda boom badda bing badda bang. grow erea as for a window unit no can do bedroom has sliding glass door the house is brand new still building on next street over. but the temps can be kept on house thermostat low, to properly build this grow op money is really no object but dose need to be thought of when buying stuff .

how much cfm will the fan be? if you are pulling air from your grow room i recomend you go like this
SCRUBBER>FAN>LIGHT>LIGHT>LIGHT>EXHAUST.
otherwise if you are pulling air from another part of the house, if that part is usually kept nice room tempurature you can pull the air like
INTAKE FROM OUTSIDE ROOM/LIGHT/LIGHT/LIGHT/FAN/EXHAUST...
just if you pull from your room not only will it not be as efficient but it could shorten the life of your fan cause the air temps will be siggnificantly higher then if you were pulling form outside air.. cause you are trying to cool the actual light bulb with air that was already heated up by the light.. they do still heat up the rooms a little..

it still works wonders though sucking froem the grow room so do it by all means.. but i think youw ould be well of doing it the way i recomended.. see how they all work.. shouldn't be too difficult..

thx for input all fresh air will come in via through the wall from bedroom to closet and 2 - 12x12 darkroom louvers on each side of the wall http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=darkroom+louver&btnG=Search there will be plenty of passive fresh air
