Coolest Light System?

I have a question on what you would get in regards to the best of the cool temp. light systems available today for a grow tent setup?
I have a DR-120 and was wondering what you guys recommend as the safest system that also does the job?

There are a lot of factors involved with this....

You could cool any light with a big fan ya know? Depends on your resources.

Cool Tubes are not bad but I would go with just an air cooled hood... like the Sun System Super Sun 2 -- Or a Euro Style 8"... I mean, with any air cooled hood you can establish a touchable surface with the temp of the air coming in, and the amount of air being pushed thru. CFM of the fan should = half of the wattage of the light... again, this can be increased or decreased depending on several factors... but a good rule of thumb.... That measurement does not include the required CFM for filters/air exchange/yadda, only if you have a fan dedicated only to your light.

They also have water cooled reflectors now... it's like a duel cool tube with water rushing thru. They also claim to have a better lumen output (?).... the liquid makes the light stronger somehow... Who knows...

Then a digital ballast for sure...

your tent the dr120 (or Dark Room 120) measures 3'11x3'11'6'7 so you could run a 600 or a 1000 watt... 1000=~65watts a sq ft, so I'd go with this....

A really good budget but not super budget where you went so cheap you cannot run it because everything is so hot.... and your getting semi-decent components...

I'd go with this light

You could try to cool that light with this fan, it's possible but I honestly cannot tell you if it will work... it will be shit if you put a filter on it... but it's under $50. You would also need to put it before the light where the exhaust pushes thru the light. And your ducts need to be absolutely straight w/ no real 90º bends... but this is budget fan...

I have had good success running the small duct booster fans like above... It is now my preference because they operate near silent, cheap, and last a long time.

With my 1000 watt system I had a 424 cfm fan and it was way too loud and barely cooled the light, I could touch it, but nothing near comfortably like I've done to other 1000 watt systems with a larger fan w/ 8" ducting. You could upgrade to a vortex (they are around 200-250) and get an extra 250 CFMs, you could hook this up to a filter and your system would be pretty bad ass but would be loud as hell (They operate around 50dB if I recall which is under normal conversation level) but the air movement may be near 80dB which is the equivalent of a good yell.

Make sure you get some clip on fans, a filter, and suck air out of the thing... 1000 watts gets hot Bro....
