cooking with alcohol tincture

so I have a tincture that is from a quick ethanol wash of fresh bud. I'd like to make some tasty edibles with very little substance to them, so they can be carried easily and are not filling.

any favorites?

I'd dilute it with the same amount of water, heat it up, dissolve a large amount of flavored gelatine in it and pour into molds to set. If it contains enough gelatine, then it should remain firm at room temperature, like cola bottle sweets.

I've made rum cake as well as as this recipe-

PEACH SCHNAPPS CAKE
yellow cake mix with pudding
2/3 c. oil
4 eggs
1/2 c. peach schnapps
1/2 c. orange juice

I've substatuted different flavored schnapps based tinctures. There's a whole line of 99 proof flavored schnapps that work great for tictures & cooking

shit, I have 5 lbs of gelatin!

all I need is a good recipe. I think the liquid added by the tincture is gonna be pretty negligible.

so far, coffee is terrible at helping it go down, but kombucha worked well, oddly enough.

You could try the recipe in this video clip. Substituting half of the water for alcohol. If it doesn't fully dissolve or set right, then simply reheat and add a little more gelatin or water. You might also be able to heat the gelatin with the water and then stir in the alcohol at the end, to avoid any evaporation.

the only problem is they talk about packets of gelatin. I opened the box and what I have is a 5lb bag of unflavored gelatin powder.

it wasn't expensive, but the same amount purchased as packets would be as expensive as weed.

the total volume of tincture I have is 3oz, and that represents a hash oil ball that would take quite a while to smoke. If I divide each one into 16 candies they should be quite potent.

It says in the transcript beneath the clip "third cup of water, one three ounce package of flavored gelatin and two one quarter ounce packets of non-flavored gelatin."

The 3 ounce packets contain mostly sugar and only about one quarter ounce of gelatin. So that's essentially 3 x 1/4 ounce of gelatin altogether, plus 2 and 3/4 ounces of sugar and some flavoring and coloring.

If you have 3 oz of tincture, that's approx. 1/3 of a cup. After diluting to 50:50 with water, that's 2/3 of a cup, which is twice the amount of liquid used in the recipe. So you should need 1.5 oz of gelatin, 5.5 oz of sugar, plus flavoring and coloring.

Should you want to drink it I have found "Simply Lemonade" and the "Great Value 100% Juice Applejuice Fruit Punch Blend" at Wallymart to be exceptional at covering the taste.

I use about 1 capful EC tincture in a 16oz cup of juice. I prefer the "Applejuice Fruit Punch" to the lemonade as the acids don't kick so much. Took me awhile to come across the right flavor combo but those two are great.

whoa thanks!

you think that is 1.5 oz by weight? and the sugar is by weight as well?

You're welcome. That would be 1.5 oz and 5.5 oz by weight, yes. That's based on using 2/3 of a cup of liquid though. Your 3 fluid oz of tincture is actually 0.375 cups, which after being diluted with an equal amount of water comes to 0.75 cups. So if you had exactly 3 fluid oz and diluted it with the same amount of water, you would need 1.7 oz gelatin and 6.2 oz sugar. Although you probably don't have as much of a sweet tooth as a kid anymore, so perhaps keep the amount of sugar at 5.5 oz.

Butter

Butter

Since THC likes to blend with fats, I have just melted some butter in the micro and then added some tincture. The Everclear goes away quickly, and what is left is butter that you can use in anything requiring butter. Very little weed taste. It is quick and easy.

Tincture with food seems to hit me more than Tincture by itself or even added to a drink.

Basically canabutter from tincture.
