cookin outdoors

sometimes the kitchen gets a little hot in the summer, and we cooks tend to want to take the cooking outdoors.

So, here's a small experiment in the big outdoor kitchen, broilin under a bazillion BTUs.

This isn't the typical outdoor grow, in that I was too damn lazy to go out and dig a hole, but these are just a few things I thought I'd try to utilize that big ol free sun. So, just got a few things started in pots of soil. Some Lowryder action, as I often play around with. Also 2 clones from my indoor G13s.

First the Lowryders...

naturally I chose the classic Weber grill for my outdoor cooking.
In that first pic, we see 3 Original Lowryders in the foreground. All 3 of these turned out to be autoflowering females. They started flowering right on cue at the 3rd node. I'll be using them for A) genetic experimentations, and
B) BHO
2 of the LRs have been pollinated with Sour Bubble, the third will be pollinated with one of the other LR crosses. Those are the 4 in the background of the first pic. They are Lowryder X Sudden Impact (which is an AK47 cross)
2 of the 4 are dudes that started Autoflowering at the 5th node, the other 2 are fems. 1 of the LR xSI will pollinate that third LR.

This second pic is of 2 G13 clones. These started out as little 6 inch clones that are now appx a foot tall, maybe a little more. They are in 1.5-2 gallon pots. They MAY need another transplant before they finish, but maybe not. We'll see.
They are just starting to act like they want to start flowering. Might be a nice little add on to this season's harvest.

stay tuned for more outdoor cooking adventures!

I agree issack. I'm waiting for them to just fill in these pots a bit more, and then it's into some 2-3 gal pots with a lil extra bat poo. They're showing some samll flowers right now, and are taking their time getting into flowering. Once they get their new pots they'll take off. I'll post some closeups of these Lowryders soon with a lighter towering over their little selves :biglaugh:
(not dissin Lowryder, these are just extra tiny. I've grown em bigger.)

updates on the cookout

updates on the cookout

Most of my growing is done indoors, but this little outdoor side project is keeping things interesting, and might just increase this year's overall harvest a bit.
Let's have a little better look at these girls this time.

First to my itty bitty Lowryders. Here's a shot of the 3 pure LR. All 3 have ben pollinated for future experimentation. 2 by the Sour Bubble, and 1 by Lowryder x Sudden Impact. Out of all the plants I have going outdoors, these LR will be first to get the chop.

These are smaller than ones I've grown indoors, mostly because I started them kind of late in the season.

Now let's zoom in a bit closer and include a lighter for size comparison.

CLOSER....

Yeah, there's some actual resin glands in there with them seeds, just waiting to be liquified with butane.

Now let's look at something a little bigger. These 2 plants are LR x Sudden Impact. They did not autoflower, so they'll get a little larger. Hopefully they put out some tasty buds. If not, it's in the oil pile with em!

Even larger than those are the 2 G13 clones(taken from THESE G13s...http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=14401 ) that are putting on a bit of size and budding up nicely. Please excuse the oddball cropping on this photo. Tryin not to show TOO much in the background. What you CAN see is a 5 gallon bucket for size comparison.
These 2 are pretty healthy, although I shoulda transplanted when issack said. I got pretty busy, and let it wait longer than I should, so they started showing signs of being a bit rootbound before I transplanted. Oh well, they'll be happy in these new pots.

and finally, here's a top view of the 2 G13 clones, clearly budding.

That's a quick tour of cookie's picnic grounds where we're always cookin up something tasty. Stay tuned for more outdoor fun.

grasshopper on grass

grasshopper on grass

A few days back, the 3 Lowryders in this thread got chopped. Their seeds were harvested (I can't wait to grow out the ones pollinated with Sour Bubble...should be fun) and the remaining material will be for making oil :yummy:
There are still the 2 G13 clones and the 2 non autoflowering LRx Sudden Impact. I'll update the thread soon with pics of them.
You'll catch a glimpse of some of the G13 in the follwing shots though. I was hanging out with my ladies yesterday, looking at them up close when I spotted this cool little dude hangin out. I thought that the grasshopper on grass would make some nice photos, so here ya go!

First, he's trying to claim the top for himself

I decided to get a better look at him from the other side since he was just showin me his arse at first.

he was pretty mellow (for some reason :canabis: ) and didn't mind me moving in for a closeup of his mug..with a nice view of some resin glands too!

the groovy little hopper then insisted I get a good shot of his powerful hoppin legs. Good color, NICE racing stripes, cool detail on his little climbing hooks, and OH those muscular legs!

I stand up to walk away and he gives me one more peek out from behind the leaves. He says thanks for lettin him chill here on such sticky plants, and I tell him he's welcome any time.

note: this should not be construed as an open invitation for all insects to move into my plants. The grasshopper is cool and doesn't mess up the plants. Spider mites, aphids and such will NOT be tolerated!

:biglaugh:

I know...it aint right to be practicing segregationism in this day and age. ALL bugs should be welcome.

OK, the mites can come, but then I'll have to welcome the predetor mites as well.
If I can only get a mantis in here, THAT would make good photos!

hehehe, I hear ya JD. In this shot:

he looks like he's thinking about chomping that little leaf in front of him.
If he does, he'll become less of a grasshopper and more of a grasschiller.
Just kinda laying there giggling after trying out the G13. :biglaugh:
