neat creatures, i had one when i was younger, caught it :D Be carefull of parasites and desiese. Your probably fine, but dont do anything stupid with it. and wash your hands.

Dont scare the shit out of it.

If you do... Dont worrie about blood squirting out of its eye. Its a natural defence.
And they ARE fast, but think they are safe in piles of things, like a junk pile or lumber.

I fond mine when i was a kid in Casper Wyoming.
It doesnt make a difference to the lizard weather you have it or not. It can be your friend and you its. If you let it go it wont have that opportunity.

Seems like the rest of these guys made a hastey, and easy judgement. Mainstream almost, even in this counterculture. lol

Check what Verite said, then double check the endangered part.
Taking animals from the wild is sometimes needed to add genes to the captive gene pool, but it should only be done in a way that you really contribute to the species. If you want to do it right you get him/her a partner (2 females for 1 male is usually ok) and try to adjust everything so that they will produce eggs. Then the hard part will start. Incubating eggs is a long process (depending on the species) but when succesful it's rewarding.

You took him from nature and he's eating the crickets you offer to him. That's great, many species refuse and die a slow death. But now you have the ball to keep him alive, fed and you really should find him/her partner/-s.

So your first thing to do is to try to find out if she/he is one of the endangered species, if not then you try to get a clue is he a he or she. Give him some medication for parasites. Then you go and find the partners. When/if you find them you must keep them separated to find out if the new one have diseases/parasites and give some medications to them also, just in case. After a month or two you can put them together and hope they are of different sex. If they are the same sex (males) they propably won't fight until a female comes in, but don't count on that. They are from nature so they propably aren't used to being around other males like captive breds are, so prepare for a fight. After some time in the terrarium you can't let that animal out in the nature anymore. So now it's your responsibility to keep him/her happy.

i've been thinking of getting him/her a partner.

verite: you are right! i'll look and see if its indangered or not? i took him to the petstore yesterday so they could check him. every body at petco was like... wow! how qute! they did'nt say it was endangered and they are the ones who identified it as a horny toad. said it shoots blood from its eyes when it gets mad. havent done that yet so i guess its pretty happy! petco employees said it was verry healthy and helped get all nececary stuff for him.

put '12' crickets yesterday in his terrarium and this morning i only see two :yoinks: where they go? maybe he ate them all? looks good tho!

peace bro's! ill check for endangered species! thanks for the help!

As one who often gets employed to trek the wilds, I highly recommend not collecting reptiles from the wild. There are permits involved, trust your local pet store they have trained herpetologist in employ and know who to properly source the correct species and health. These creatures absolutely are on the endangered list throughout the southwest and socal , they are desert creatures and do not dig the relative humidity or temperatures we keep our homes in. This endangered creature went from a free roving free fucking, crawling, eating being, to a caged thing because you think it looks cool. Set em free go buy a gecko, much slower any way. What you did was called poaching just so you know. If you gro you might want to think about that too. Dude seriously these things don't mate lime you and I they essentially hunt for multiple other lizards to hump in a given night. Your idea of in house lizard pussy for him is hilfuckinglarious! Set em free bro peace!

That lizard probably died of starvation or metabolic bone disease 9 years ago.
And most pet stores don't have trained herpetologists on staff. Most pet store staff are just repeating what they read from a generic care card that might not even be for the correct species. Kind of like the staff at most grow shops, they're salespeople.
If you want a reptile or any animal, do your own research on the specific species or breed you want before you get it.
