Converting ballast to 240v

I recently got a 400w HPS from HTGSupply and I was wondering if anyone could walk me through the basics of rewiring a ballast for 240v. Any help is appreciated.

grab the wire marked 240v off the ballast.
grab one of the common wires as well.
should be 2 common wires coming off the core kit, use only one for the line side (240v)
the other common will tie thru with one ignitor wire and the neutral to the socket.
just tie one hot leg to 240v and the other hot leg to common, doesnt matter which hot goes where.

I'm missing something or you guys are speaking in code. If all you move is one wire, you have a 240 set up to run off a 120 plug.

Cut the female end off a 3 wire 240 volt appliance ext cord. Open ballast and note ground connection and mark the interior com and 120 volt wires with tape (you will NOT hookup the 120 again!) Remove the cord and replace with 240 version. Connect ground and com. Trace the 120 back to the core and grab the 240 line which connects to the black wire in the 240 cord.

tru dat. unless hes wired a 120V outlet to 240V...

Plugging 240 volts into a 120 receptacle is bad juju! 120 and 240 use different plugs to prevent this from happening. If you're going to convert the voltage, you need to replace the cord/plug.

my lighting controller is a made unit by C.A.P. it runs 240 volt out of 120 plugs so the ballast doesnt need to be re corded and can use the standard 120 v plug
they do also make a unit that has 240 v plug setup
mind you there is no convertion of electricity so it alows the ballasts to be switched to 240 volt simply by moving one wire
