Constructive Critisim welcomed! My new closet setup

These are the dimensions of my closet:

3.2 ft wide x 6 ft long x 8 ft tall about 150 Cubic ft.

My previous setup included a 400W switchable ballast with a diamond style reflector. I had a lousy 75 CFM fan hooked up, but it was during winter so the temps didnt get that high. The temps rose to about 10 - 15 degrees with the lights on, making the temps between 75 - 88.

My new setup includes the same 400W switchable ballast, but with this new item:

I also have a fan that is around 400 CFM that pulls all that heat through some insulated 6 inch ducting to the attic where its hooked up to a vent to go outside. Odor management will be implemented later on.

Here are some pictures of my room now:

Yea I know that I have a lot of "bends" in my ducting, but that hole was already there because of an exhaust fan I had. The airflow is amazing, and it only raises the temp between 1 - 5 degrees compared to 10 - 15 degrees! I can place my hand up to the cool tube and it just feels like a CFL lol.

The air is sucked in through the bottom of my door...and its funny because the temperatures are cooler when I have the door closed as when they are open. When I go into my closet, it feels like an AC is getting blown in from the bottom of the door thanks to the 400 CFM fan.

I have noticed that the cool tube gets very dirty because of dust...I need to purchase a duster that I can stick in there right before lights come on...

What do you guys think? What can I improve on?

Very nice setup. The only suggestion is this:

for the outlet side of the fan

*The angle at the reduction of the duct cross-section must be less than 15 degrees
*Avoid 90 degree bends (use 45 degree)
*Bends must be shaped so that they follow the air stream after the fan.

Circular/centrifugal inline duct fans for example, are propulsive, pushing the air. And should be installed so that the long duct is after the fan itself.

All I see is the bends in the duct work you may want to change but with a temp rise of only 1-5 degrees I wouldn't say that it's necessary.

I have those tubes..

I haven't used those add on wings yet..

Nice..

What do you think of the footprint?

I've been cleaning mine too.. I use the dusting cloths like for those floor sweepers..
Dry it works well but wet it takes more work.

Thanks for the comments. The foot print is pretty good...without the wings the light goes everywhere.

You may want to figure out a vent for your closet door. The crack is probably not enough opening to satisfy what the fan wants.

Looks good!

I agree with Freezer 110% -- install a filter on the intake end of your Cool Tube, and you'll have to dust much less.

Also, I'd add a rigid elbow where you have that 90deg bend on the exhaust end of your Cool Tube -- rigid ducting has much better airflow than flexible ducting, especially in sharp bends. Just remember to seal the joints where the elbow moves.

If temp becomes an issue, you should add a passive intake(s), but if the crack under the door is sufficient to keep your temp ideal, that's fine (although I'd make sure no light is leaking into the room if you are flowering in there).

That's all I can think of -- best of luck!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will add a filter to make sure dust doesn't get in there. I do not get any light through the crack of the door..I made sure to check that on my last grow.

I will look into the rigid ducting as well.

Nice set up man, i just got a cooltube for my 400watt as well, didnt have one last grow.. what a difference in temps.

I dunno about not putting the wings on... why wouldnt you put them on?? I can totally tell the difference when they are on or off.

Oh and you might wanna stay away from the bendable rigid ducting, I had some and man it created this wind tunnel sound, sounded like a jet engine was in the room when the door was closed.. I thought thats just the way it was.. then i swapped it out for the more flexible aluminum stuff.. I can barely hear it now. :joint:
