Commerce & Greed, Infertile Seed

Bought some seeds this year, 10% germination on 4 packs from one company, 40% from another. Jesus, if there going to sell seeds at these prices we should have the right to have them date stamped on the packet. Also germination tests. If I was to buy seeds for food production this would be illegal, this just aint a very professional approach. I wont mention the companies involved, one in particular has some fine plants very stable, but the seeds looked terrible grey & white, very pear shaped almost triangular, looks like they were immature. Come on guys, this is rubbish your giving us, for very expensive bud trash. I cant call them seeds cos seeds germinate. Some of these were blind as well, 2 cotyledons & no shoot. For these prices we need this seed industry to be better regulated, minimum germination %'s, & DATE STAMPED NOW PLEASE. If eneough people have the same views they might just hear us. if you call yourself seed companies then act like seed companies. I will be emailing you in holland before I name you. I expect better. By the way I worked in the agricultural industry for years, I know how to germinate seeds. I think this sucks if you work out what these things cost it works out more expensive than gold. Take a good look at your business, people are not just punters.

Yeah maybe we are all getting hung up on this strain madness, it might not be all that its cracked up to be. The best strains in life are stress free. Thanks to those who got me out of a muddle.

Maybe they should invest in a seed dresser, we used to blow this shit out of the back of the combine, or the seed companies wouldnt buy it. It was called screenings, lights, or chaff.

all the seeds I have ever recieved had good germination rates - at least 8 of ten, usually better. Have you read any forums on germination....?

Keeping the containers, or soil warm, after seeds put in....? A heating pad, or seedling heating pad does that... You must know of the paper towel germination method... What was the ph of the water used to germinate...? Just a few of the many things that can go wrong.....

Icy surfer, the quality of these seeds was very poor, mishapen, different sizes, maybe I was unlucky, maybe I got some old stock, maybe that wasnt the fault of the supplier or the distributor, Date Stamping would have given me the reason to explain why the seeds didnt germinate, & the producer the reason to say why they should. They could have been stored too damp, dried too quickly, had insect or fungal problems. They may have been from a mouldy bud, I do not know why they did not germinate. I did my best. All a cannabis seed really needs to germinate is moisture & warmth. If they are coded in some way, samples could be saved, problems sorted. What I do know is seed from 2 other breeders gave me 19/20 & 20/20, seed from 2 others was a failure. Seed has to be stored below 8 degrees, & 16% moisture. Too much rain or irrigation can lead to pregermination. There is a whole science to seed production that continues after the plant has gone. The finances are there to safeguard the rights of the producers & the consumers, like I said these things arent cheap. I do know that a lot of developement & research goes into the genetics side of things, every effort is made to wave their best produce at judges at weed cups for the media etc more care could be taken to insure the product reaches us in top condition. C'mon we are all in this together. If there are commercial breeders here lets hear how you clean grade & store them, lets have some pics too please, it will inspire confidence.

i buy seeds but only when I'm looking to make a new cross then run it for several generation until i find what i'm looking for sometimes I do sometimes not

its always a crap shoot dealing with seed companies

No can do, the point is I grew some last year, & really liked the plant, I had 5 of them & they were almost identical, which shows they know a bit about breeding. If you name people, it can develope into a witch hunt, & I dont want to do that, I just want to see pro seed vendors tighten up their act.Their counterparts in the food & commercial seed industry have to meet certain guidlines why cant they? Date stamp please. Are there any seeders out there, who would like to comment as to why this is so difficult. You might even sell more seed because of it.
