Colorado Growers Thread

So the newest news on this is a state funded legal monopoly for cannabis that would be convening in January. Just heard it on the news today. This has been highly publicized lately there is either a crackdown being handed down from federal or investors looking for the outsource contracts.

The government is trying to turn us into criminals again so that they can make all the money. It's the same thing that's been going on forever. Crazy how this all comes crumbling down so fast. I hope we have some smart aggressive people working on this somewhere.

Does anybody have a recommendation of a local organization where I can volunteer my time to the cause?

The state made getting a MMJ card waaay to easy. I thought you'd have to visit 2-3 doctors and it would be issued as a last resort. But between filling her wiper fluid and picking up the dry cleaning, a Denver columnist and housewife picked up her card without even having to disclose her weight.

Some dispensaries are run by bikers in Denver...I'm sure the state as well as patients love that.

Some dispensaries are making $200k a month...all without much contact with the caregiver...if any. The state isn't too thrilled.

$700 an ounce is laughable...Glad I didn't get a card...because now they have a record of you...and the other 400 applicants per day.
[This of course, doesn't apply to authentic MMJ patients...of which most applicants aren't.]

I wouldn't be surprised if the whole state shuts it down and starts over from the very beginning.

The State would have to bring it to a vote, being as it's an amendment to the state constitution, and the people of colorado would ultimately have the say.

Are they just trying to get rid of dispensaries or are they trying to make it so patients can't produce/grow their own meds? I don't care what they do with the dispensaries but telling a patient or the caregiver of a patient that they can't grow their own meds is not proper.

I wouldn't worry for now about that guy, I don't think he'll get much traction.

The current fight isn't about patients growing their own. It's about dispensaries selling over the counter, and whether they fit the patient/caregiver relationship as defined in Amendment 20.

There's also an issue with suppliers who provide MMJ to dispensaries without having any patient contact at all; sometimes referred to as "contract growers"; another concept not defined in the amendment.

I definitely wouldnt have any problems with them limiting and restricting the "contract growers". Specifically, licensing and taxing done on those growers. Would help the CO coffers to fix highways, education, other public responsibilities. Because "contract growers" to me sounds like black market mass producers turning quasi-legitimate and making "protected" profits.

Thanks for the response. With that in mind, the dispensaries might actually benefit in the long run with some guide lines so they will know they are doing business legally. It would be a shame if they made it so a patient couldn't grow their own meds.

Boulder just got swamped with 30 dispensary requests. The city is reviewing this...Sorry...but it's just too much of a good thing....I predict they'll all go bye bye soon

Is anyone going to the courthouse tomorrow? I made it last week to get shut out and had to wait in the damn lobby. I can't tell my boss I'm sick two Tuesdays in a row.
