Eh not a big fan, I haven't heard Come Around (I don't think) but I hate that song he sings with Beyounce, what the hell is a pop star doing in a reggae song...blasphemy.

Cool guys I'm glad I'm not the only one on here who likes good reggae music :rasta:
nseruame- I'm not really digging anything beyounce does I agree blasphemy. Peace :joint:

Dude, you're on a pot forum. Reggae music basically is pot in auditory form. But I've never heard them. If he's singing with beyonce though it's probably dancehall reggae, and for the most part I don't like dance hall reggae. I though you all were talking about slightly stoopid when I saw this post. They did a song called collie man, you should check it out. They're more roots/folk/hip hop reggae in someways. They've got their own unique blend of reggae vibes. Good shit. I'd check them out if I were you. Especially that song closer to the sun.

I got a good laugh out of this song this morning. I've been listening to it on my favorite reggae station for months. This morning I get in the pickup (which I seldom drive) and damn if it wasn't playing, and I thought, "what the fuck?" because the radio was on one of the top-40 stations my daughter always listens too. I asked her about it later, and she knew the song, but she was sure surprised that I knew it!

It seems that "Come Around" has jumped into the top 40... some music my kid and I can agree on, for a change!

I predict you're going to hear a lot more of this song in the next couple of months.

P.S. She was kind of shocked that I knew Akon from the reggae station too. I think his pop music is annoying, but I like his reggae stuff.

it's probably pretty obvious already where I stand on this - but still, I'm yet to see a modern reggae outfit that comes close to the sound and spiritual power of true roots reggae and dub

there are some good dub outifts around maybe, but the '70s was the peak

still, it's great that guys like Horace Andy and Burning Spear are still out there and still bring the authentic roots vibes when they play

can't find any good Horace Andy clips on youtube, but I saw him in about 2001 and he was awesome - sang flawslessly, and the band were on fire - heavy, heavy bass and fat dub reverb sounds

I hear ya man nothing like reggae from the 70's-80's but there are some pretty dope newer albums out I like Stephen Marleys mind control,Damian jr gong Marley's halfway tree and welcome to jamrock, Bushmans higer ground, anything by Capleton, and Thirdword from the old school I like Tenor Saw , Lee Scrach Perry *his new stuff is dope also*, Steel Pulse of course Bob Marley and Peter Tosh all bumps at my house I could just go on and on :rasta: peace.
