cold weather/ attic grow question

I'm about to start a new grow in a week or so. The grow is going to take place in a closet in a 12/12 room. 650 watts hps closet size is about 5x5 maybe a bit bigger. gonna run a rdwc with 10-12 plants 2 great white shark ant the rest my own creation ADD (sdog x hashberry). Gonna use floranova and liquid karma with some mollasses @ quater strenth.

As the title says this room is in an attic that is not heated and it gets cold up there in the winter. temp arent freezing but cold 45-50 at nite. my question is will these cooler temps hurt things? I'm sure it won't get much above 70 with lights on. So anyone who maybe in a similar situation please drop in and let me know what ya think.

I'm in the garage. Winter temps can get into the 30's at night. You're correct that 70º would be hot under those conditions. My problem was air intakes cooled the water down into the 40s which seriously stalled growth. I dropped an aquarium heater into the res and used it to maintain 68º for the water. I also ran lamp at night so "night" in the cab was during the days warmer temps.

You should be financially prepared to add an aquarium heater to your res since you're using a system in which your roots will always be submersed.
I would be ready to get a standalone space heater, as well, meaning not just money but power availability.

Have you considered the load bearing ability of the rafters you are setting up your grow on? Each of your 5 gal (I assume) buckets, when filled with 4 gallons, will weigh 32 lbs. In addition, you will have a res, maybe a 55 gal drum on the low end, which will weigh ~400 lbs when full. Last thing you want is your roofs strength compromised or a res falling through the ceiling.

I have used this particular heater for several years and they work great.
One of the benefits of growing where it gets cold at night is that you can let it get down to 40-45 degrees at night and that will make your buds nice and resinous and they will also show better colors too.

+1 on the resin and color. I am of the belief that stress towards the end increases resin production, and a little purple never hurts (and this is definitely caused by low night time temps) Couple this with some UV at the end and you'll have some funky nugs.
