Well it depends on how old the plants are smaller seedlings can't take too much older plants can mine in my GH have nightly lows in the 40s it has slowed them down some. It also depends on how much light they get full sun in winter is not only shorter but weaker and how warm they get during the days we get temps during the day from the high 70s and low 80s. I have heard that some strains can handle a light frost but I won't want to try anything below 40.
hey rose have you ever tried using a water wall or 55gal barrel in your gh to boost night time temps? those things are supposed to extend your gardening season.
Hi, Yes I have tried them and they do help. Having the CFLs in there during the day helps too. So far the grils seem happy and are not showing any stress even with the cold nights.
they can take a little bit of frost even overnight when they are well into flowering (strain dependent)
what can be very damaging is when you have frost overnight and then the sun comes up in the morning and warms up the plants too quickly - then the cells rupture as the water expands too quickly. so a little bit of shade from early morning sun can be good. this is probably more relevent for gardening in general than specifically cannabis.
I knew a guy that grew in 50-65F weather. Every night he brought them in, said some nights they could stay outside if it does not drop below 40F. Nice plants. Some even had 2-3 plants in one pot.
I put a bubba kush cut out in the greenhouse today that'd been vegging up inside for a while. We'll see how she likes it, when i go out in the morning it's usually above 40, daytime 90's but im expecting small buds because i'll probably only get about 8 hrs light by febuary.
I'd have to say it now being week six into flowering that while they get plenty of light the cold has slowed things down and so far the buds look like they are going to all be on the small side.
