Coconut Oil in a Slower Cooker - Increasing Potency?

Hi all,
I have a bunch of low quality trim that I would like to cook into coconut oil for capsules. I would like a potency of one to two pills per strong dose.

My question is this.
Would it be possible to put coconut oil in my slow cooker, add trim until it is saturated, and simmer for 6-8 hrs, strain the cooked plant matter out and add new trim into the same oil? I would like to repeat this multiple times, cooking different batches of trim into the same oil to result in a very thick, potent coconut oil.

Any experiences/tips?

Also, how import is soy lecithin to the process?

Thanks! :thank you:

You would be much better off making hash or oil first.
My strong pills use 200mg per pill. One pill is more than enough for most.

At any rate you would not need to simmer for 6 hrs. I do mine for 30 min with the hash/oil mixture at approx 125deg c.

Then when cooled add the soy lecithin, just mix in till you get a nice fine consistantcy.

I use 300mg per pill.

BHO or ISO or any hash oil.

You will be able to make much more potent pills if you reduce your trim down to just the good stuff.

Here is a good link for similar information. I do almost exactly what you are talking about, using trim, a slow cooker, and coconut oil, but I make topical oils. At least when you are using dried trim, you are better off cooking for 8-12 hours and stirring frequently. Gray Wolf goes into the reasons why.

I do almost exactly what you are referring to, using decrease, a crock pot, and grape oil, but I create external natural. At least when you are using dry decrease, you are better off food preparation for 8-12 time and mixing regularly.

HC15, your plan sounds very doable and is similar to how we make caps out of trim. I do have a couple tips though. When you screen off the plant material from the coconut oil a lot of oil stays on the plant material. We rinse the plant material off with hot water, the let the oil coagulate on the water in the freezer, then pat the hardened oil off and add it back to your base oil. Tip two, when your ready to fill caps up with oil just do one or two to try before you fill them all up. That way you can add oil if their too strong or more trim if their too weak.....scrappy

TahoeQueen, I use topical oil (coconut oil base) primarily for muscle spasms and it works unbelievably well. I've never tried mixing in arnica, but would think that it would work if it can be absorbed topically. I have mixed in a variety of essential oils - primarily wintergreen, peppermint and balsam fir. The only downside to the essential oils is that I use the topical oil very frequently, have sensitive skin, and something in the essential oils (alcohol perhaps?) dries my skin out.
