Coco perlite ratios for 5gal fabric pots

Hey guys,

I’m looking for a recommendation on the perlite to coco ratio if any for my setup. I’ll be transplanting from 1.5 gal pots into 5 gal fabric pots. I’m using canna coco and I hand water. I know watering multiple times per day is better, but I don’t have a auto system yet. So watering once maybe twice a day by hand is what I’m capable of. The room had 4 1000w double ended lights. So basically my question is how much perlite should I add to achieve a once maybe twice a day watering schedule?

Only add perlite if you want to water more frequently. If I was you I would just run straight coco so you don't have to water multiple times a day. Good luck

From what I've seen 65/35 or 70/30 coco/perlite. That's the range I stay in. At the end of the day, it's personal preference. Good thing about coco is you can't overwater. Good luck.

Great thanks guys. Maybe I'll add 20-25 percent or so. If I end up needing to water multiple times per day it will give me a good reason to make irrigation system

im at 20% perlite with the coco also...you have 4 DE 1000s and you will be watering all the time..def consider a cheap dripper set up maybe...for a cpl hundred bucks you will thank yourself over and over...also til you are more automated.. if you have plastic 5gal growbags they wont dry out near as fast as the smarties...i went back to 3 gal plastic bags from the fabric ones and i watered bout half as much, and I'm using the same 20% perlite/coco mix the plants didn't change..DJXX

I vote no perlite. Straight coco builds a better rootball, and you can water the shit out of it.
