Is coir considered organic and would adding 25% to a grow change much? Also I have heard it is acidic is this true?

I have not dealt with it but I have read that it has a long break down time.

I'm not sure I like that.

Yes coco is organic...I'm not sure how much 25% would help. I don't like to mix anything with it except perlite and or hydrotn. no it is not acidic and I don't know what a long break down time means. Coco is ready to use once it's flushed and hydrated. Whats not to like?

There is a great coco thread going here:

It might help the soil retain a bit of air and it's self buffering, but those are the only real benefits I see in soil.

It's actually very beneficial to an organic grow as coco is filled with thrichoderma and other goodies and as far as ph it buffers itself to the nutes you feed.
It works better with liquid nutes than an ammended soil type mix, but your using peat for the remainder so not a problem.

My Bad I thought it ment the same as coco peat.

I didn't know the difference.

Coco Peat is very slow to disintegrate, whereas peat breaks down within two years after application, Coco Peat only begins to break down when it is 10 years old, long term benefits.
