COCO AMENDMENTS

I'm looking for things to amend my coco with, not looking to go pure coco.

Parboiled rice hulls: cheap, used to aerate soil(my case coco), well known, doesn't rise to top of soil like perlite.

Diatomaceous earth: used to aerate soil(i think), well known, high in silica, might mess with ph

Paramagnetic rock dust(basalt): evens out EC throughout media utilising nutes better, soil aerator? Mixed views.

Any exp w/ these? Thanks in advance:)

why aerate so much with more "things" while the pure coco is already so much aerated... ?

The way I look at it is I can add water but I can't add air hence my attempt to maximise oxygen

coco alone have a very good ratio water retention / aeration of root zone

adding "things" inside will change that ratio in your containers and possibly mess with your feeding schedule and so on....

if you want a medium full of air then try hydro on rockwool or aeroponic systems

each time you water it push air down the roots, like a piston

if you water correctly, about quantity and timing, you allow your pure coco being full of air and nutrients and staying wet enough

the more you add inside, the more parameters, more problems
