Coastal Growing?

I've read some comments about plants not being able to grow too close to the coast due to salt in the air from the ocean and also the humidity.

Simply put, my questions are:

Can a greenhouse fix this?
How far inland must one be for non hindered growing (without a greenhouse?)

in my opinion a g.h. would just add more humidity unless you have the money for heavy duty fans and a kick ass dehumidifier. growing outside near the coast i think a sativa would be your best bet, you don't want that dense indica stuff you will get bud rot. I have buddies that are 20 mins from the beach and they don't get sunlight till around noon

Is the lack of morning sunlight due to clouds from the ocean?

Right on about the sativas. I grow mold resistant strains here in Appalachia because it is VERY humid here, but I assume even these strains would rot close to the coast. I would have to get some sativas, though I'm sure KC33, KC42, Leda Uno, SSH, and Neville's Haze would fit the bill perfectly.

exactly.

i had an outdoor grow about 300ft from the ocean, plants were fine until they developed big buds, then it was mold city. the fog rolls in at night and doesn't burn off until the afternoon, so theres not much you can do, greenhouse or not.

the trick to coastal growing is finding a grow location that is high elevation, above the fog layer.

High ground near the ocean I imagine is outrageously expensive. How far inland?

maybe 10-20 miles minimum just to be clear of the marine layer, idk though. depends on the exact location probably. I had a place in Bonny Doon which was only a couple miles from the ocean but at 3000 ft elevation there was no fog
