i saw this product and want some feedback from the pros....Thanks DJXX

Better Than CO2 is a source of bioavailable organic liquid carbon. All plants require a source of carbon. This is typically obtained from CO2 gas, but, may also be derived from simple organic compounds (such as photosynthetic intermediates) directly from water nutrient solution. The use of either CO2 gas injection or Better Than CO2 does not necessarily negate the use of the other. Because the processes of producing photosynthetic intermediates and building onto them occur at the same time, one can derive a substantial benefit with the use of Better Than CO2, either alone or in conjunction with CO2 gas.

Over Grow Nutrients' Better Than CO2 doesn't contain any micro or macro nutrients. It contains the bio-available carbon and a touch of algicide to keep down any algae as an added benefit. Use along with your preferred type of nutrients, we suggest Over Grow's Part-A and Part-B however, most nutrient lines are acceptable. Use the prescribed amount of nutrients for your particular stage of plant growth. Keep an eye on your plants' consumption of those nutrients. You may need to add MORE nutrients as your plants' metabolism increases along with their consumption of food. Yes, Better Than CO2 does as its name says, it is BETTER than running CO2 from either gas bottles or a CO2 generator. Try it, increase your harvest with less work. Also, it's safer than running CO2 gas. Plus when it is time for the flower phase, you will want to keep your humidity LOW in your grow room in order to increase resin production. The plants' stomata (stomata are the mouth of the plant, they're what open up to take in the CO2 that they need for photosynthesis) will close up when there isn't enough humidity, making the use of CO2 gas ineffective! Better Than CO2 is taken up by the plants' root system, bypassing the plants' need to use its stomata for CO2 gas intake.

Better Than CO2 should be used throughout the whole grow, during both vegetative and flowering phases. Yes, Better Than CO2 works great in soil. Mix 1 to 2 ml of BTCO2 per gallon of water at every watering. Either CO2 gas or Better Than CO2 will indeed produce larger fruits. Though Better Than CO2 is BETTER THAN CO2 gas!

Total Hogwash!!! (okay I'll edit this to say that there are studies that show gaseous co2 injected into the water culture of rice plants traveled up the plasmodesmata and was found in the leaves. But this doesn't happen efficeintly and almost nil for wheat. Too much stunts root growth. CO2 as a fertilizer has been around for a while but having the gas enter the roots and make its way into the chloroplast is another story for which I've seen no evidence)

First, co2 can only be absorbed through the stomata for it to enter the Calvin Cycle NOT through the roots . So right here I think it's snake oil. Also, pristine rain water has a pH of 5.6 because it absorbs co2 in the air on the way down. Carbonated water has a pH of b/w 3 and 4. So this carbon could lower pH.

There are 3 categories of plants based on how they fixate (process) c02, which are C3, C4, and Cam plants. Most plants are C3 including cannabis. The slick ad talks about stomata closing when it gets too hot, this is true. The enzyme RuBisCO, which is NOT in the roots, is the main "processor" of co2 and when it gets too hot it cannot tell the diff between o2 and c02. And with stomata closed, it puts o2 into the calvin cycle. C4 plants evolved to combat the problem of photorespiration. One important C4 plant is corn. Cam plants are succulents that open stomata at night and hold until sunlight allows for fixation.

At first I thought this was a spray or liquid that reacted to form a gas. Now that I read it's to be added to the res just totally defies all science that is being taught at universities.

Read up on photosynthesis, calvin cycle, electron transport chain, p680 and p700, atp, proton pump and you'll get what I mean.

Sounds good I guess I might try it

Are you sure? It's like $189 for 32 oz bottle! There are a few studies that suggest 5% increase in yeild when using CO2 fertilizer in the form of ammonium carbonate (NH4)2CO3. Seems a little pricey.

In my experience, when something is better, it is usually indicated by a social "Buzz" a full parking lot and a line out the door where you buy it.

I have yet to see this for any Co2 product.

first, liquid co2 is not absorbed through the stomata, gaseous is.
second, all plants need carbon. they can get it from air as well as through the roots.

this product appears to be biochar suspension.

it should be beneficial just for the carbon it will provide the medium.

hey there djxx. both humic acid and whey protein( amino acids) have lots of carbon that can be absorbed through the roots. actually there's several good articles if you google "amino acid uptake by plants".

Does that mean the carbon can be used for photosynthesis?

The chloroplast is strategically located to allow diffusion of co2 gas through the stomata. Wondering how the carbon would find its way there.

Last but perhaps most important is that the enzyme Rubisco is the enzyme that attaches each carbon dioxide molecule to a molecule of ribulose biphosphate, beginning the Calvin Cycle. How would/could this be done with non gaseous carbon that traveled up the plasmodesmata to the leaf?

If the carbon is not being entered into the Calvin Cycle than it's a total waste of money.

Fun Trivia:
Where does 99% of all plant mass come from?

If you lose 10 pounds where did it go (what form did it take when it left your body)?

Stick with bottled co2 or a quality co2 generator. These are the ways to actually perceive results with co2.

THis is a lil strange and kind of ass backwards lol.

A lil botanical study and one will learn that plants USE o2 at night time and use Co2 during
light time.

then with a lil FURTHER botanical study, one will learn that Co2 isnt even utilized IN THE ROOTS but instead heavy utilized in the chloroplasts
in the green tissue which is the at the sites of Photosynthesis.

Putting this into your root zone seems counter productive on so many levels
when regarding 100% NATURAL gardening practices...

You wouldnt pour this on your veggie plants outside in teh garden...

def a marketing product to just trick unknowing customers.

ill answer that :)

I believe it to be, CARBON BABY!!!! lol
Where is carbon MOST abundant for plants... THE AIR ;) Just like nitrogen, but plants dont
have the special ability to pull 'N from the air like they can pull 'C from the air :)

This is why plants trade EXUDATES(extremely high in carbon) for much more useful nutrients like
phosphorous from mushroom mycelium and bacterias. The plants have an abundance of carbon in their
system, something that mycelium can not produce itself but has to forage or trade for it within
the soil food web.

I would agree with this, that this product is merely suspended BIOCHAR... aka FRESH CHARCOAL,
this is the exact same as ACTIVATED CHARCOAL.

I wouldnt come to believe that its the carbon that benefits the PLANT DIRECTLY, but instead
INDIRECTLY.

For all the carbon does in the soil zone is INCREASE the CEC(cation exchange capacity),
which would in turn increase the SOIL SURFACE AREA allowing it to RETAIN more water soluble nutes
rather then allow them to "run off" aka leech.

the carbon more so compliments your soil microbiology which will in turn improve your plants
health. Healthy micro herd = healthier plant every time.

if they marketed the product a lil differently and DIDNT reference Co2... and instead just referenced teh
benefits of adding BIOCHAR, Charcoal or activated charcoal to your soil, that product would
get better replies imo... lol

But they couldnt sell it at that price then lol because people would then be like... Well
i can just use this $5 bag of biochar lol

You nailed it! Kinda weird at first to think that the spare tire of fat around your mid section would turn into the CO2 we exhale, if you were to lose that spare tire. None of it comes out your back end as most think. And the opposite is true of plants, nearly all dry weight mass is from CO2. Nutrients are not the equivalent of food for us. That is, nutrients don't contribute to dry weight mass.
