CO2 Questions

Hi, i want to add co2 to my grow rooms and doing my research i have found the yeast and sugar method or to go with a tank and regulator, my grow space is 7 feet by 3 feet and i would like to know what would be the best recipe and quantity of it for my space if i want to go with the yeast way to make co2. Also are propane co2 generators safe to use in a house and do they generate lots of heats.

if u want to see the real benefit of CO2 i would reccomend a tank or generator. for your space i reccomend the tank as the generator will put out some heat. u want to keep levels at about 1500 ppm and for those levels to be stable. not to say that other methods wont benefit you just that if you want to see the results that people report your gunna need a tank/generator and a method of control

Use a co2 canister, they can be bought cheap used(you dont need a new bottle) and they are chea to refill you can buy the regulators cheap if you look on ebay

I dont like burners they imo are to $$ in my opinion and they put off to much heat for my area

Use a co2 canister and totally waste that money, you cant just dump co2 into an area and expect results,it would be nice but it doesnt work that way.People that think co2 generators are dangerous have never used one and are repeating what they've read somewhere,I've used one for 6 years now and my house is still standing.Any kind of appliance can be dangerous under the wrong circumstances,if you use your head its not dangerous at all.

I find the yeast/sugar method works fine for small grows - my room is 1.5m X 1.4m X 2m high, and I get great results using yeast. I think a tank in that size space could be overkill. My method costs £1 ($1.80) every two weeks for the sugar...:)

The jug in the pic is half-filled with water, sugar and yeast. I add more sugar every other day, and more yeast every four days. After ten days I empty out and repeat.

Four weeks later! Yeast jug in bottom right corner now, in main air-flow...:)

And it would look identical without the yeast believe me I'm not putting your method down,I'm just trying to make you understand you not going to keep a constant high PPM using yeast or any other method besides a tank and reg or a generator and controller anything else isnt helping your plants any.Even a generator and a "cyclestat" dual timer to control length and duration of burn isnt 100% effective I used one for too long, when I got rid of the cyclestat and got a real controller I saw what the generator is capable of.

i agree ballastman if he had a larger area i would reccomend a generator too but his is relativly small and even though a generator is cheaper overall its a little overkill for his area. it produces some heat and in small spaces a tank would be better. also when commin gout of a tank CO2 is cold.. sometimes very cold so it can actually help cool the room.
