co2 price question..

alright before i go searching around, is an alum. 20lb tank for $150, a reasonable price? it is also full. and they will swap tanks out for $20. this is all from a so cali hydro shop.. if this is not that good of a deal, tell me where i can find less expensive.

Go to a welding supply shop, the tank is about $100 and the $20 to fill it up is about right, i've got 2 tanks that i dont even use anymore.

It does pay to make a few phone calls and shop around for that piece of equipment.

Peace

try this site...lots of info...

link>>micromatic

also, lots of beer/wine shops refill or swap tanks (full for empty)...places that recharge fire extinguishers can also refill co2 tanks...or a bottled gas supplier...

definitlely shop around, $150 sounds high. :bat:

that's not a terrible price for one that it is filled already. 20 is about right for refills, that's the market rate. convenience is a factor as well. You can do better on the tank if you search around, but it might not be worth the hassle if you have the cash. You probably wont save much more that 20-30 anyway, unless you get lucky and find a used one.

i managed to find a welding shop. 100 for a steel tank and about 12 bucks for a fill. or they lease tanks for 29 cents a day. which doesnt seem like a bad deal either..

Ok this is what I do...and it works great for me.

I go to this Beverage / Soda Events place....Look in the yellow-pages phone book under Beer / Beverage and you may seem some companies listed.

Call them and ask them if they rent CO2 tanks.

Mine does...and all they require is a $35.00 deposit for the tank. They charge 16 bucks to fill it...and now when I am out of CO2 I just take the empty tank back and give them 16 more bucks and they then give me another tank (most places don't fill the tanks at the locations) So if you buy a tank and use it all up....when you go to the company to refill it...they will most likely give you a completely different tank. So if you can find a place that works on deposits...then that is much better cause you will get all of your money back when you are all done with everything. Also then you don't have an empty CO2 tank laying around to stub your toe on.

Now like I said earlier...This works for me and maybe it can work for you also.

Take care,
