co2 injection, is this a good deal?

I can pick this up for $150 shipped. Is this a good deal?

I am currently running a homemade yeast/sugar in a 5 gallon bottle with a spider type 6 outlet spreading the co2 in the whole area. But I want to be able to sut the stuff off when it's lights out.

I'd say not worth it. CO2 is really only largely effective when the CO2 is at the correct ppm and the room is sealed as tight as possible. With a cab you are going to be venting whenever the light is on meaning the CO2 will just dissipate into the room with the other gases. So you will probably not be able to get the CO2 levels at a consistently high level (~1500ppm). Also that looks like a pretty small setup, I don't know if CO2 would really benefit you that much even if you could get a steady ppm.

If it matters, the cabinet is sealed up pretty good. I see no light leaks from the oustide and I used caulking on the entire inside and outside.

I have the scrubber mounted at the top of the cabinet. The intakes are on the lower right and directly in the floor. So I figure that the co2 would fall from just about the height of the light and fall on the plants.

do you still think it's a bad idea?

Depends on how long you can keep off the fans. With fans on it will just vent the CO2 outside. When CO2 is properly used people turn off fans to keep the ppm levels stable inside in the room or cab. It's much easier with an entire room though.

Because of CO2 a +10* rise in temp would be acceptable but you don't want to go any higher than high 80s-90.

If your talking about exhaust fans,I agree with you.I do use oscillating fans pointed upwards through the plants though,I first learned this from my hydro guy and confirmed it on google. Its the best way to utilize co2,it blows upwards through the plant and falls being blown upwards again

So, shut off the exuast fan and have a fan down below blowing up. I have a 2 outlet digital timer that I can put the exuast fan on along with the light.

But if I turn of the exhaust, won't the cabinet get real stinky?

measure the size of your room and then go here and fill in the numbers:

http://www.greenair.com/co2-generator.htm

this will tell you how long to flood the room for the proper 1500ppm. When I used c02 in BOB (Box Of Bud) I flooded 3 times a day 12 3 6 for the amount the calculator told me to. Shut down all intake and exhaust fans 15-30 minutes before the flood to raise the temps. To properly use the gas the temps need to be around 85 to get the stomas to open to use it. A fan inside the room to stir up the gas is advised since it is heavier than air and if not stirred might just fall to the ground. C02 works man it will give ya 20-40% more yield if done correctly. Good Luck.

How much would that 5lb of co2 last at the settings they list. I chose the smallest unit the sell and it said 149minutes to charge the room.

I could put the solenoid on the co2 onto a digital timer, along with the fans and light. So I would have 3 timers running my light, intake/exhaust fans, and the co2 tank.

I would have the lights come one, then 15 min later I would turn of the exhaust/intake fans, then wait another 35-45 mintues and turn on the co2 for 3 hours or so.

Sound right?

149 minutes? I don't think so that would be one big ass room. Maybe 14.9, it takes 21 minutes for this room:

But burners are far better and simplier to use than tanks if ya got the room.

Mr.Wags

I think I punched in the figures in feet not inches on that chart listed above

How much did that burner run you, and do you have a controller? The prices I see are like $350 for the burner and another $400 for a controller.
