CO2 Generator placement re: flammable materials

Hi, after a few years growing I'm finally setting up a sealed Co2 room and I'm trying to decide where to place my Co2 generator. I've got everything arranged really tightly together, and there's just no space where I could mount it w/ 18" space from all flammable materials like they say in the manual. I've got a Gen-1e w/ the electronic pilot light - I know they want to be careful in the manual for legal reasons, but anyone know how close you can really have stuff to it? I've got some hooks and chains mounted in the most open space I have in between my two HPS lights and 18" from the ceiling. But I can see that the plants will probably grow up into the burner, although I'll tie them out of the way and try to keep them from stretching too tall. But the plants will still probably get within a few inches of the burner...and on one side only a few inches away from the burner there's a sheet of black/white poly hanging.

Is this a fire hazard I need to rethink or am I going to be ok? Maybe put it a little closer than 18" to the ceiling to gain more space away from the plants?

i had a similar issue. i mounted mine to my light mover and it only comes within 12 inches at the ends for 30 seconds. it works great. make sure you seal, seal, and seal your room some more. i am on my 3 week of my first propane tank. thats kick ass IMO.

Do you really need the CO2 generator in this application? It sounds like your room is awfully small. I wouldn't bother using a propane-burning generator in a cramped space with only one or two lights.

Yeah, I definitely need a generator, more than one mmj club owner has told me the only thing that could make my buds even better is some Co2 to add density. My space is 10x10 with 2 1000HPS'ers and 2 400MH's. But with it divided up between veg and flower, an A/C, Dehu, carbon scrubber, etc...there's not much space left. I have been sealing it up like crazy. Phillthy, does the unit get really hot to the touch? As a test, I held a lighter a few inches away from some panda film and that didn't even light up...not sure I can rely on that though. At a minimum the buds right around it will probably show some heat stress...

it doesnt get really hot. the top gets hot but if you have good air circulation and ac it is no big deal. cools off quick too. i use a sentinel 2 burner unit.

Low ppm.

Low ppm.

So you guys are talking about using a 2 burner in a 10x10 room. I have an 8x12 room and an Ares 2 behind a Saturn 6 controller. I'm running 2x1000 HPS,3x400 MH. I have a 16" figure 8 fan for flow, an inline 8" fan for intake and an 8" for exhaust. I'm shooting for an 80° room. •<With the heat build up and exhaust, the room won't hardly hit 800ppm. What the heck am I doing wrong?

You built a contradiction.

At most some air exchange 2-4 times (one full exchange of air) during light cycle. More common is to vent at lights out to dump CO2 and humidity.

Can't understand your logic for constant air exchange. You're burning crazy amounts of fuel and creating a lot of heat.

As a general FYI, if you can't maintain clearance, follow code for other combustion/heat sources in tight spaces re: sheet metal panels, 26 gauge spaced 1 inch from the wall/protected surface. Small chunks of conduit work as spacers, other wise get fancy with a bench and make flanges. Any sheet metal shop can fabricate to spec.

This is overkill really. Truth be told bottles would be preferable if you don't have the room.
