Anyone ever notice a significant decrease in Odor at around day45-50 from the plants when continuing to enrich with co2 throughout flower?

Yeah, I have.

I am not running my CO2 after the 2nd week of flowering anymore.

As a matter of fact, I have started letting everything finish off outdoors.

Nothing beats that big free light in the sky.

Are you guys serious about this??? So are you dropping the temps with that as well then? I would imagine you don't want mid 80's temps with no Co2 supplementation.

I'm noticing a change in smell of my plants, getting much stinkier and more deisel smelling.

I'm just starting week 7, so should I shut the Co2 down???

i use co2 in hydro, not organic soil. but no, i have never noticed smell diminish, only increase during flower. co2, light and water are the core requirements for photosynthesis, which powers everything the plant does (nutes are condiments). So cutting co2 from 1500 ppm is never the "right thing to do" if you have a co2 setup.

Not only should you lower temps but also raise the lights if you stop co2; without co2 supplementation the plants can't possibly process the same lumens. But maybe you don't have that many lumens in the first place? In which case co2 probably makes little difference anyway, although it can't hurt.

No offense Bob but do you even realize how many posts you have started on this subject alone?

This isnt even counting all the other posts on this exact subject you started with all the user names you nuked like ballastman.

For sanities sake please stick to one post on this subject if not one user handle.

If you really want to do the forum a favor maybe you should conduct an experiment and report back your findings cause I dont think youre going anywhere asking the same question time and time again in different posts and different user names.

Ok assuming you observe this reduction in smell, what about alternative explanations? Smell comes from terpines and, as with any plant substance, they are subject to fluctuate. Reduced smell may be the result of a natural reduction in terpine production during senesence. Toward the end of flowering the plant is preparing to die, and might place less emphasis on these compounds. CO2 enhances metabolic activity and will help speed the plant along its natural path. The presence of CO2 may bring about this reduced terpine production earlier and thus may appear to be the cause of the reduction.

A few things to consider: Most plants fluctuate in smell, rather than linearly increasing it throughout their lives. There will be natural peaks and valleys corresponding to health and genetic blue print. Different plants mature at different rates, and thus would respond to environmental factors differently. A 100 day sativa and a 40 day indica will surely exibit symptoms differently, so which 45 days are we talking here?

I've been talking to Charles Xavier about this, one insightful individual. He does seem to think environmental factors are at play here more than anything else. The thing is I run a pretty controlled room temps and humidity wise,I dont know what could have changed, except for the odor.Until around day 45 the smell was remarkable, then in a matter of a day maybe two I noticed a marked decrease in smell. After a couple days I stopped enrichment.I'm on day 60 with some and the odor did somewhat return, but not to the extent of day 40.Bottom line is I havent a clue what caused it,except that it happened unquestioningly and about when ED said it would. And Verlite,I think you mised a couple threads where you enjoy compromising my security,go back and check.I'm sure if the staff here had any problem at all with what I've done,I would have heard by now.Who are you anyway?Resident funnyman and forum hall monitor?
