well just wanted to get poeples opinions on this, ive only used bottled so far though since im using so much ,not to mention having to have a gas account and pay monthly bottle rentage, just feels safer having a normal BBQ bottle thats untracable...even if it does cost a little extra.

my question is does the pilot light or could it affect flowering?
i know they are alot hotter though A/C should fix that.
and is it more expensive then bottled? taking into consideration the rentage etc.

cheers for the input

I have the cd-6 green air propane generator the pilot lihjt does not hinder flowering and it costs me about a dollar a day

Burners are cheaper to run in the long term...and you can get bottle refills almost anywhere without raising eyebrows.

Hey Eulogy for the sake of discussion let me reminesce of the time when I bought my co2 setup. :chin:

My main concernes were

1. convenience - namely the ease of refilling (either propane or co2) and how long between refills

2. possible security implications during refil process

3. heat (only matters with a burner)

4. initial cost

5. monthly cost

In the end I went with the burner. The burner had a lower initial cost (that would be buying a bottle not renting), a propane tank is far easier to lug around (especially an empty one) than a co2 tank (ie more convenient), and being young (and having no business refilling a co2 tank monthly) the burner was far less of a red flag. I have a propane BBQ so its not a big deal if the neighbors see me bringing a propane tank into the house. And I can just go down to ANYWHERE and swap it out (again convenience).

It was basically a tie on monthly cost and how long you could go before a refill.

Only downside to the burner was the heat, but I will say that Im having no issues keeping 2 1k lamps and the burner cool with a 5k BTU AC in a 5x10 sealed room. Actually strongly considering adding a 3rd to the room for the winter :joint:

On the flipside of that, if I was running bottle right now I would not need AC.

But getting even more crazy with it I actually have found the combo of AC and co2 burner to give me 100% control of my growroom temps. Depending on how long I run the burner just before lights on, and how high my AC is turned up, I can get the temps anywhere from 70 to 90F lights on and 60-75 lights off.

However an adequete AC is a MUST if running a burner IMO. Either that or just let the temps get into the 90s. With a res chiller or in dirt you can do that with co2 :joint:

pilot light has not effected flowering what so ever in my limited experience. Been flowering with the burner in the room for a month now and this run started budding up quicker than ever. :joint: I had an extension cord that the end lit up on in my bloom room a while back, that wasn't a problem either.

I did swap out the 'light up' extension cord just cuz, why not you know? :joint:

I would say go with the burner. I have a air-cooled CO2 generator, shown here:

With this I have not needed additional AC, just creative venting (i.e. getting air from outside the growroom to the 4" duct, and having separate exhausts for the generator and the room's environmental controls). It was a bit pricey, but has many advantages, such as glow-plug ignition (no continuously running pilot light that can be accidently extinguished), less heat, if any, added to the room, etc. A little more pricey than most, but well worth the $$$. Search for air cooled CO2 , you should be able to find them relatively easily. And, only refilling or exchanging propane cylinders is low key compared to refilling CO2 cylinders, IMHO. Hope that helps

The one in budgood' picture is a megagrowth generator formerly known as blu-ox and yes they are a bit pricey http://www.progressive-growth.com/proddetail.php?prod=8017fd here is a link to a site that sells them............

Exactly. It has went through a few name changes. It was a Blu-Ox when I first seen the product. I ordered one, and the documentation called it something different....A Fireball, I think??? Anyway, now they are called Megagrowth. Mine is only a 4 burner, but it does the job quite nicely. Pricey, yes, but worth every penny (I've NEVER had to run an AC in any room I've set up with this....)
