CNS17 in Coco.....need Micros?

Switched from Lucas formula (Maxibloom) over to CNS17 about 3 weeks ago and thusfar hating it.

I dislike greatly the mixing of the suspension, and my rez is now always slimey.

Other than that, my plants seem like they are missing something. Growth is going well but looks like nitrogen deficiencies. I was told no Micros were needed with CNS17 but now im wondering.

Should I be adding micros to CNS17?

I hope you get things sorted out.Your post makes me think twice about switching to CNS17.Hopefully someone will chime in and give you some input.

Shake your CNS in a small jug before you add it to the res or add any additives.
I havent noticed any deficiencies using half the recommended dose of CNS. How much are you using? I think most peoples "deficiencies" are actually lockouts caused by using to much, or not mixing nutes properly.

I am running CNS in a spot and I love it. I am at 550ppm. Add 60ml Roots Excel to 50 gall and 20 ml of drip clean.

Awesome green, lush growth.

How many ML per gal is that?

Are you growing without a pen?
I actually tried hand feeding once a day @ 550 on plants a couple of weeks old. I didnt notice any micro deficiencies, but my plants didnt want to grow. They kept putting out 3 blade leaves.
Im not trying to say the guy who said 550 is wrong, Im just pointing out that even if you under-feed with the correct ratios youre probably not going to see Micro deficiencies with CNS17.
I prefer around 1000 PPM on vegging and flowering plants when hadfeeding. Full strength is something like 1500-2000 PPM

no i grow with a ppm meter. i was just curious.

i just eyeball my nutes, mix them and then measure ppms. i went ahead with 650ppm today when feeding. then added 200ppm of cal mag. We will see how it goes.

Thats a ton of calmag combined with CNS17 and a low base ppm. Im sure the NPK ratio is going to be out of whack with that mix also. Its also probably best to add the calmag to your RO first.

I have been using the coco bloom cns 17 from seedling and through flower. I measure in a large syringe and shoot it into the rez. The stuff can be hard to mix. I used to mix like Tribal seeds.

As far as keeping things clean, I add GH subculture-b to the mix. From what I have read, cns-17 has the sugars for bacteria. From botanicare's site "Additionally, the molecular composition of CNS17 when diluted with water causes the organic structures contained in the formula to hydrolyze and serve as a supplementary energy source for beneficial microbes."

SLIIME.

I'll probably not use CNS17 in the future because of the slime. Not a fan!

interesting topic...i was using some sample bottles of CNS and it seemed to work fine..you gotta premix it in a jug before applying to the res. i didnt notice any slime it worked nice and clean...

I'd been using maxibloom and was happy with the results. Then started using the CNS17 Ripe exclusively in the reservoir for the last stages of flowering before flush, and was happy with the results. Now I've started a run of DJ's Flo, and filled some reservoir's with a 50/50 mix of maxibloom and CNS17 Ripe to reduce the nitrogen levels. What a god-awful mess. The bottom and top surface within the reservoir filled with what appeared to be some semi-crystalline slimy precipitate that got pumped up into the flood trays to remain as a purple goo. Ain't trying that again.

We ditched CNS17 for Hydro Research Veg+Bloom and it was a good move thusfar.

CNS17 is a nightmare to mix. I know Botanicare has some good products, this is not one of them.

Caravaggio - It is a nightmare to add cns17 and water to a small container and shake it before dumping it in? Really?

To each their own i guess.

I've been growing with CNS17 for the last two years. I love it. I get good yields, good taste, and great looking buds.

Edit: I forgot the entire reason for posting. I would add micros if you are using CNS nutes. The two base nutes are not enough to max things out.

I went through a few gallons of CNS17 a while back and after years of using Canna and the CNS17 worked really well.

I was happy with CNS17 when I ran it. I switched to Canna Coco to try it but I think CNS17 was better.

I never had to put extra effort into mixing it into my reservoir. I have a recirculating pump in my reservoir and I would also pour the nutrients in at the same time I was filling it up with the hose, so there was quite a bit of agitation in there. That usually mixed it sufficiently.

Do you guys use a pump to mix your nutes and keep them mixed? It’s that simple really. Pour the nute slowly into the output stream of your pump hose. Do the same with any thick nute like floranova, or even dry salts. No problems, no premixing.
