the genotype should pretty much never change mate if you clone regularly. i've heard that mutations can build up in plants that are very very old and keep for cloning so as squiggles said it's always best to clone the freshest clones etc. potency won't change.
Some plants will lose potency or taste over time but that is about the plants age, the age is the same if you keep the mother or clone from clone.
Curious on everyone’s thoughts in regards to not keeping mother plants but continuously cloning clones.
Does the strain become less potent? I've read many contradicting arguments so really interested in personal thoughts/ experiences?
Ive noticed no change in my Mr Nice Black Widow at all. I have even reveged mature buds and cloned from that more than once and she keeps on going and going.

i find "the best" method is ditching moms, and having a preveg/rooting area, where the cycle plants become the moms. just before placing them into the bloom room, remove all the unecessary ofetn lower stuff, you'll get great material down there from 2-4 week veggers.
that way your clone stock is always "fresh" if you know what i mean.
its like moms know how old they are and will just die someday, but fresh clones from fresh clones seem to work very nicely, d
