Cloning Question ( Cutting The Leaves )

Member
I just took a cut from my super lemon haze and put her in a peat pellet ( Rootech Cloning Gel )

I was just wondering if it is necessary to cut the leaves in half or will it work just as good without cutting the leaves ?

Also if i do have to cut the leaves do i also cut the leaves from the very top or just those bottom fan leaves you see in the pic

Thanks in advance fellas

If it were my plant I would pull all the lobes together and cut them down to about 1" in length. I do it in large part so that I can more easily fit more clones together. However, I've found that, since I don't ever dome or raise humidity just for clones, it helps with transpiration and prevents drying out. However, plenty of people don't bother, it's not a 'must' for every scenario.

If there's enough meristem at the top there, I would completely remove the two fans you've left, too. Those spots can become root sites.

i do not trim the leaves, but i do cut off all but a few at the top. in principle, trimming the leaves makes the clone work less and not to have to support leaves, but to develope roots.

btw, i agree with SeaMaiden that trimming your leaves isn't a must and it may not be necessary in your case but it's dependent on your level of skill, your environment and, to some degree, the genetics you are working with. ...and most of this shit you have to just learn thru trial and error.
