cloning problem

I recently put about a dozen cutting into my clone machine which has a humi-dome. After about 10 days the root structure was looking good, so I pulled them out for transplanting. Within minutes they started wilting and appeared to be severly dehydrated. Only 2 survived. What happened?
Also can I take cuttings for clones at any growth stage. I'm in week 7 of flowering and would like to try again
thanx, danofzoo

You didn't harden them off...

Before removing the dome for good, you need to get them use to the dryer air by opening the dome a little at a time and slowly increasing their exposure to the dryer air. If this just happened in the last day or two, try putting the dome back on them to see if they perk back up.

:yeahthats Should have weened them. I have a fish tank covered in clear plastic with a florescent light. At day 7, I begin to take a cig and burn a whole or two into the plastic. After several days there are quite a few holes forming. You could have tested them by removing the dome for a short while to see if wilting would occur. You would know then they weren't ready just yet.

Sun...can you believe that there is a machine that comes with a dome?

I am not sure why...I do agree with Sun though, a dome is not necessary with the clone machine.

i use the bottle cap technique ... when you start seeing roots start putting bottle caps under 1 end of the dome cover, slightly raising it a little everyday.... just another way to get them used to the new environment. oh and another thing i do is take the cover of for a couple mins to let the stagnent air blow away.

Yup, you have to harden them off. I'm at high elevation, which is even more critical to harden off due to the extreme dryness of where I live.

ebay Item number: 120008296274,
hava look at this mate, you can slap a similar one together for about £10 /$20 from your local hardwear store, all it is isan expansion water tank with a flouro light plumbed in, iva similar one which i water clone with (are you familiar with this technic?) , cuttings are usualy ready to transplant in 14day +/- without the need for hardening / weening or using additives of any nature,
also, if you take a clone from a flowering plant you will need to re-vegitate it, truth be told, i wouldnt bother as it can be a long drawn out disapointing waste of time, youd be quicker/better starting off new seeds.
good luck
