Cloning in soil

Hey guys, I was wondering if it was possible to root a clone in soil rather than rockwool cubes? If so, are there any tips to using soil? I use SuperSoil and its great for my plants, so I think it should work for clones.

Thanks for your help and patience with a newb like myself.

ya i cloned for a while in dixie cups (12-16oz) with a soil/perlite mix. the hardest part is keeping the moisture level right as the cups will dryout a little uneven. the top will dry out but the bottom stays moist. the key to cloning is patience.

Make your own bubble cloner for 90% minimum succes rate. Just get a tupperware container, make a bunch of holes in the top, fill with distilled water, add an aquarium air stone, fill holes in the lid with clones...... keep water full and dont give too much light (a small floro would be fine) and you will have clones in 1-2 weeks. Once they root just cut them out of the lid and plant in soil. I use gladware cuz its mad cheap.

hope this helps :D

You mean once they root, to cut the top of the tupperware up to get access to the clones, not cut the clones themselves, right? haha.

If growing in soil, clone in soil.
If by SuperSoil you mean an ammended mix with stuff like blood and bone meal in it than it's too hot for seedlings or clones.
Use a mix of 50% peat based mix and 50% perlite to keep the medium moist but not wet, the perlite also helps with rooting.
Rockwool is the devil's backhair, even in hydro I hate it as it holds too much moisture and is mold prone.
I use peat pellets instead, they are my peronal fav., just soak in plain tap water and drop the cuttings in once they expand, plus theare cheap and widely available @ Lowes, HH, etc.

If MUST clone in soil, go for the RapidRooter plugs. They are made from decomposed tree bark and the roots grow Crazy in them. What I like to do sometimes is root the cuttings in the bubble cloner, then cut open a rapid rooter plug and place the clone in the plug. once they root in the cloner, i have a 100% succes rate with this method. It awesome to see a huge ass trunk of a clone sticking out of a rapid rooter plug 2 months later :)

now get busy and build an army of clones!

a newb like myself.

a word of advice if i may,

use the search engine.

its there for a reason folks

theres at least 4 threads called 'cloning in soil?'
already on this forum

no need for one more,
this is a waste of bandwith
not that i pay the bills around here, but this is flat out wasted bandwith

and a loaded question....soil is the (aside from water) the oldest cloning method in the book

it works more reliably than most any other medium (save for a $300 ezclone machine)

also, soil clones (like all clones) like to be left alone to do their thing,
soil requires nothin more than a some water every other day and a fan goin (as any cloning method would)
hence the least amount of care, out of all cloning teks...set it and 4get it typa thing

theres a sand cloning tek on my homepage if your interested in a medium like soil but have your gripes...sand is inert

I do it all the time, you really have to make sure the clone stem is making good contact with the dirt and have a lot of stem in the dirt. expect a 3 week turn around

I think a good media is peat moss and perlite. The peat moss stays moist while the perlite allows for oxygen. Oxygen is the key factor in rooting clones. Make sure media stays moist at all times.
