clones via lollipopping

hi there,

lets say that the desired canopy is to create one main cola per plant, with some lower branching nodes providing bud sites depending on genetics. to achieve this, i have read that lollipopping the lower 1/3 of the plant is needed approaching light cycle flip, within the first two weeks post flip, or both at various intervals.

what i would like to know is how many clones can one expect from one plant during this phase? are there going to be variations on the clone count depending on whether the plant is a landrace indica or a sativa dominant hybrid (60/40)?

or should one expect at least two clones per plant as a baseline figure from lollipopping the lower 1/3? for all purposes considered, lets say the plants are vegged until the 4th or 5th top nodes form, or a 1' or 15" plant height is reached.

you should be able to get at least two, if thats what your going for. It really depends on strain but Id say at least two per is accomplishable. Some strains you'll get 5-10 cuts. It also depends on how well your vegging them, and in what containers, cuz if you veg in plastic cups for a few weeks under a light that has them stretchin then you wouldnt have any cuts, but if they are vegged in one gallon under good light then you should be able to get plenty at a foot tall.

thanks get mo,

5 gal organic soil pots. 9 plants per square meter.

also, i have read conflicting information in regards to lollipopping leading to fluffy buds. some say that the stress from wounding the plant causes the buds to fluff up. if all other environmental conditions are met and the lollipopping is done in intervals over two weeks, then is there much to be concerned about in regards to buds fluffing up later in flower?

I lollipop all of my plants and have never gotten fluffy buds. I start in the first week, depending on strain, and lollipop some as plant stretches. Just starting at bottom and taking a few shoots and leaves here and there, every few days. Some strains, I will still remove shoots even after 3 weeks, but not many.

As long as you go slow over a couple weeks or so, you'll be good. Hell, unless you really know a plant and have it dialed in, I wouldn't try guessing and do the whole lollipop process at one time! Lol

And I will say, my yields went up whenever I started lollipoping. :)
