Clones transplanted, now need to build the grow room...help

Got some clones form the club(2). Transplanted them into some Fox Farm soil. They are sitting in my dirty basement with a 400 watt HPS light on them right now to get their roots in the soil. No fan is in the basement yet. I plan on putting the HPS light on them when they get to 12".

I am building a box for them, 48x48x69. 95 square feet? These two plants are going to basically have a mansion. I am only growing for personal smoke, do not need a lot of weed although i now I can have more plants with the space. I need an outake fan for my box now, how many cfms should I get. i want a quiet one. I was thinking about installing a window fan since it is going to be made of wood. Check this out. I might make the intake come from a 6" inline duct coming from outside. But I will need to get an inline fan for that. Too dusty in the basement to make vents for it. HELP, I need some suggestions.

Your box is 16 square feet, and about 88 cubic feet. If the maximum lighting will be a single 400 watt HPS, you won't need a lot of cooling. A four-inch inline fan (Vortex, Elicent--there are many good ones) for the exhaust, and a similar one for the intake, will be more than adequate. If the basement is cool year-round, you could put a 600 HPS in there, no problem. Remember to exhaust the stale air from close to the ceiling of your chamber.
To accommodate future expansion, why not buy 6 inch fans, about 350 cfm, and put them on speed controllers? A larger fan run at lower speeds will be quieter. To further quiet things down, use insulated flexible ducting, and a carbon filter on the exhaust.

how could i make it least expensive?

Home Depot: Get a 50 cfm bath fan for $13.00 if money is an issue. This will exchange the air in your cabinet every 2 minutes. For a box that size, you could probably swing it with that for now. I use ONE of these fans for a 4 foot wide x 3 foot deep x 4 foot high Pre-Flower cabinet with a 400 watt OPEN lamp burning 18/6. My temperature hovers around 76-78* As long as you have an intake hole cut low on one side and the fan mounted up high on the far side you'll get a cross draft. For stealth you can mount a dimmer to slow it down a bit.

This is the "least expensive" method your asking about.

Spend $20 and you'll get the next fan size up. (like 100 cfm)

Funny--my first response was based on what seemed to me to be your desire to make an optimal space.
I totally second both Junior Grower and Pirate--in particular, Pirate. He's right on all points, and if you follow his advice, you'll be successful in getting some (almost) free smoke. Then you can use the money you save (not buying smoke) to buy better fans and ducting!

Personally If you can spare 79 bucks, I would run the 6" inline with 400 cfm, but you can also go with an inline bath fan but my experience is they just don't move enough air. For a cheap intake vent cut a hole and staple a cheap furnace filter over top. For now if the basement stays dark you can go with an open air grow.

What kind of carbon filter would you need to cover up 2-4 plants in this type of box?

google grow tunnel .....i think that would be perfect for you..it uses a 4 by 8 area with fully enclosed setups...very nice setups... they only use 400 watt bulbs cus the roofs of the tunnels act as a reflector and it pushs the light to the side....

Never got a tent or anything. I made a box. 24*32*53. I am running a 50 cfm fan for intake to filter air (real dusty down there) and a 50 cfm fan used for exhaust. Temps were hovering around 80 until I added another stationary fan pushing the air up past the light. It now stays around 70 with humidity around 55. The light is a Pulsar 400 watt with the ballast built in so it gets pretty hot. My concern is when the plants get bigger. I can buy a glass for the lamp but kind of hard to determine what is too hot for the plants. Just those two fans is loud as I can hear it in my room. Maybe one squirrel cage fan to help move more air?

Marone, nice box. I grow in a dusty area. Even a small fan will move some of this dust because it's circulating in the basement. If you filter key areas of the cab you'll reduce the particles in your harvest. These filters will have to be cleaned or replaced periodically.

I actually added some filters for heater vents right on top of the intake fan. Working pretty well, I see dust building up on it already.

"I've jumped out of the plane.... Check!"

"Now...... How do I pack my chute?"

It seems you've jumped the gun a bit.
My advice is to put the clones under some fluoro tubes and cut back on their feeding. Keep em short and small.

Practice your cloning techniques while you read up on cab construction.

The questions you ask are basic and easily answered by reading the stickies and doing simple searches. :) Lots of fun :)

Once you have a good idea of what your intake, outtake, fan size, scrubber and all that is planned to be.... Post it on up here and we'll let you know if you've overlooked anything important or if what you're doing can be improved by changing something a bit.

Other than that.... Sounds like you have some great genetics to work with. :)

I haven't been feeding them, I put them straight into some FFOF. Hoping the FFOF will feed them for a while before I get some nutes.

I actually did not clone these, they were ready for transplant from the club.

I just wanted to save money and try it ghetto style you know. Hoping the light, water, FFOF and temps may get these lil babies growing.
