clones problem

hello i tried to make my clones not using clonex for the first time in my life using a bubbler...(clonex out of stock for 1week or more and my clones were getting too big...)

fact is 2 weeks passed and only 2 showed roots....recently i placed them on my rainforest but they dont seem to be getting happier lol...

should i cut the clones all over again and start new...should i just flower the mothers i have atm?

or should i keep these lil fellows a bit longer hoping roots will pop up?
(the plants in the pots are just there cause i was desperate and decided to put them in there...lol) hoping for those surprise roots :S
thanks

Give them time and get them out of strong light. A single 23 watt cfl at several feet away is more than enough light. You may want to trim back those leaves.

Yawp...... Right on the money FB :)

I've been putting my clones behind a sheet of wrapping paper mylar in the veg chamber. Cuts out 95% of the light and they root waaaay faster. :)

There are three main factors that affect root development in clones - 1) Heat, 2) Moisture/humidity and 3) Light.

Ideally the ambient temperature should be between 75-80 and the root zone temperature a few degrees lower. The clones should also be covered with a humidity dome, to help keep the RH up or around 100% humidity, this helps the clone retain moisture and slows transpiration because of its inability to uptake moisture from the non-existent roots. This helps keep the clone alive until it has successfully produced roots. The clone isn't photosynthesising, or if it is it's at a much reduced rate, so high light is unneccesary and even detrimental as others have pointed out.

Clonex is simply a rooting hormone that helps the plant shift from vegetative growth to root growth.

The key for successful cloning in my opinion is keeping the humidity high under a dome, regularly misting (twice a day) with plain water or water + small amount of seaweed (which contains growth hormones) and ensuring the right temperature is maintained and low light levels.

Using these methods (and Clonex) I've not had one single clone fail to root, some take longer than others and some faster, the fastest was about 4 or 5 days, longest about 2 weeks.

using clonex i got 100% too, but this time everything was perfect:

i placed them inside an aquarium, with a water heater running at 74º...

then placed the bubbler inside the water so it would war up to 74º as well...

closed the whole damn thing to get the max humidity possible...

2 cfl light of 18 watts above them...

today i noticed the roots on the smallest one (where the water thermomether is) are huge..

on 2 more clones i also got roots...even though one of them is ww which is a diferent strain and will cause me trouble for the final flushing due to diferent finishing times...

Anyways i was told i could have gotten too much humidity and they didnt root cause of that :S

thanks

ill keep them going until they die off lol...

PS:i got a strange brown deposit in my water, could it be cause of the clay balls, or root booster from ghe?

the water temps are really low...i even had to drop a heater in there today, no chance it could be algae or root rot right??

btw i ghave that light cause its freezing here and its a way to keep them at least at 65º

freezerboy, what you mean by trimming back those leafs?

ec:0.95 (cause of the rooted ones)
water temps: 69º

thanks guys

A small aquarium heater can be used to heat the water. There are also heating mats but, you'd want some sort of riser, like a cookie cooling rack, between mat and a plastic tub.

No domes for me. Domes are death. You'll note my clones are quite happy at 28% RH. I've rooted as low as 15%.

Supporting plant matter requires water taken in by the roots. Oh, wait, we don't have any roots. Keeping cuts short and leaves trimmed greatly reduces stress

thanks for the info i always leave a lot of leaf, gotta start cutting some more off lol

tody im happy at least one of them already has roots sticking out of the bucket, the one near the thermomether, the roots are bigger than the clone :S doesnt he grow LOL

what EC values in microsiesmens should i run at this moment?

thanks
