Clones Getting a Bit Discoloured - Pics Inside

New member
Hi. I took 2 and a half trays of clones, about a week ago, and the one half tray, some of the clones are starting to yellow around the edges of the leaf. I have no idea what this is from, since I am spraying all of them with water from the same bottle, and the other 2 have no problems. Also all clones are from the same strain, M-39. Any ideas on what could be causing this? As well as is it something to be concerned about? Thanks a lot!

It's nothing to worry about. While your cutting have no roots, they need something to eat, so they cannibalize themselves. Once the clones have rooted, you can trim off those leaves as they die, which is what they are going to do.

Pharma is totaly correct, while they are rooting they will yellow a bit, are you watering them with distilled water or RO water or tap?

Are they all the same strain of clones?
If you are using distilled or RO water, stop using it and get something different to use, the issue you have is a magneisum deficiency and using RO, distilled has no micros in it and the clones need them to help rooting develop.

If you want too, spray them with some epsom salts mixed in with your spraying, use 1/2 teaspoon per gallon of water.

If you are not using RO or distilled.... the issue is just from them trying to root and using stored nutes.

Depending on where you took the clones from the plant plays a big part in if and when they root and how long.

If it was too much light the tops would be the first to show it, not the lower part of the leaves...................

I disagree. Nitrogen gets used up from lower branches first. I'm not talking light bleaching here. I'm talking about putting clones under very dim light so they don't yellow up. Anyway it looks like those clones have nugs at the top.

I would suggest gettin a heated seed mat or heating pad, put it on low to help speed up clone rooting.

I am not talking about nitrogen, I am talking about heat stress

Yes, nitrogen does get used up, but nitrogen does not leave green veins
Magneisum does.

Styles,

You are doing a good job here. My thoughts are only thoughts, and my opinion, not to be taken as fact, just opinion. I see your clones have very large fan leaves. I have learned that plants that are cloned have two task in mind, the first in photosynthesis, and the second is root (in order to live). If a clone has large food leaves, it tends to photosynthesize more and root slower. In most cases we prefer the opposite, you would rather for it to root quicker and photosynthesize later. Correct? Well, normally, I cut away the larger fan leaves and leave only a small fan leaf and the top head of the plant to grow. In most cases, the clones root quicker and eventually grow to be placed in dirt or hydro and etc. Just my opinion, if what you're doing works for you then continue, this method has worked for me has worked for a while...

OKay, my previous statement is relevant because if the plant roots quicker then the defiency can be solved faster.
