Clone with Roots Excelerator

Hey guys, i have been looking everywhere to try and find out if you can clone using only roots excelerator and tap water, due to not having cloning gel or the money right now, will a long story short, I accidently broke a branch tying it down last night and decide to go ahead and just give it a shot... What could i lose right.? Well this morning when i woke up the clone i took is standing straight up, no more droop, and turned over leaves. i made to clones off the branch that broke and both of them seem to be doing Great.
P.s i used peat pucks for the media

It certainly could work. It's less likely and would take more time for roots to sprout but it could work.

Good luck

dip n grow is a LOT cheaper.

roots excel will help once there are roots I'd imagine, I can't see it hurting, just quite an expensive rooting aid.

yeah that was my whole problem, i only had 2 plants and they are about ready for flower and after spending all that money on the house and garden line i dont have the money for clone gel, i didnt think it would work but since i broke it on accident it was worth a shot. and i got to say it is definitely working.... just dont know how long before i see roots ill let u guys know :)

I agree, I have been using dip-n-grow for the last 10 years with 95% success rate (knock on wood as I'm rooting some SSK's and SB's)

hey man you don't HAVE to use rooting hormones to be successful at rooting clones. just keep your cuts (in peat pucks, right) a little warm, not too much light, and the pucks slightly moist. water with tap, but do not overwater.
i routinely keep cut branches in cups of water on a windowsill. i change the water every other day and as long as it isn't too cold, they root. i've done it with vegging and flowering plants. alot of people can clone very well without cloning hormones.

heres some WW undergrowth i cut a few days ago, just stuck in some tap water...
roots excelurator is expensive, just use water

I use low ppm well water or RO and aquashield. Nothing else. I have thrown all manner of shit in there and NOTHING works better. KISS.

ok thanks guy's, I didn'nt know if it was Roots Excel. or just the water... I'll let u guys know how long it takes before i get roots. it hasn't even been 20hrs., but they are still looking great... I guess well see how long it takes to Root....

the above info was what I use in aero cloning. the aquashield might be wasted in a medium.

Who the fcuk can afford roots excelurator, but not a 5 dollar bottle of cloning powder from home depot.....

you know, cloning has little to do with what you smear on the stem... indolebutyric acid is not better from one gel or powder to the next..... Nor will one or the other give you a better chance.

what do I know..

Jbonez, Me considering the Roots Excell was given to me... and yeah bro i just found out yesterday home depot carried a rooting stimulant but i decided to get some dyna grow

man, roots exc. is some good stuff, just pricey, I dont really use it anymore, just the powder. Dyna grow is fine as well, and cheap.

Cloning is more about humidity and temperature than anything, you will get the hang of it bro, one of these days it just "clicks"...

You can clone in anything...just about...without root accelerator, clonex, rootex or others....plain old dirt works, coco, hydroton, bubbler, peat or sphagnum moss.

Doesn't have to be complicated.

High Country, I acctually found that out from just taking cuts and testing, so far i took 8 cuttings and didnt lose a single 1... 3 With roots excel and water, 3 with dyna grow clone gel and roots exce= 4 days to see roots, and 2 with just tap water they took about 14-18 Days to root
