Clone trims late flower advice

Hi Everyone,
Being a total newby, I can't tell which plants I want to keep until they are almost ready to harvest.
I have a sativa that will make an excellent mother.

So I got some supplies.

I just wanted to be sure it was worthwhile.
I plan on taking a bunch of shaders, dipping in the clone solution, and then using the kit.
If it all works out, the new plants will be ready in 2 to 3 weeks, which will be when I harvest.
So, is there anything special to do besides cutting the shader, serade the end, dip in solution, then put in one of the clone cups, water, and leave under light?

By the way, what the heck do people do with the clone solution?
There's a fed warning to not use for unintended purposes?
Is that stuff toxic, should I wear gloves?
Thanks in advance.

Late flower cloning can be a pain in the ass ime, but it can be done.
Get on it asap.

It seems that taking cuts from flowering plants takes longer than plants in veg. Typically by a week or two.

Take your cuts asap!
If you don't have roots by the time you harvest you can attempt to re-veg your mothers by placing them under 18-24 hours of light.

Hope your plan works.

Oh yeah...
those rooting hormones prob won't hurt ya if ya get them on you. Gloves are your perogative. ;)

What's up Green. You said total newbie, so just want to make sure you know that you can't clone a fan leaf (shader?). You are probably best with lower branches that don't get that much light. Check out a couple cloning videos on YouTube if you've never done it before.

2 things you can expect when cloning in flower. It will take longer to root the cuts and then more time for them to kick back into veg once they root. You might see single blade leafs for a couple weeks or so depending on strain. The good news is that some people do this on purpose (see monstercropping) because clones taken in flowering shoot out a lot of side branches and can make nice, big plants.

Good luck!

Like testy said look up monster cropping. Here is the link to a thread https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?threadid=224569 that is a good place to start. It just takes a really long time, can take 4 weeks for stuff that is past 6 weeks of flowering. You have to be super patient, and I mean super patient! I say that twice cause I know how stressful it can be when trying to preserve something that has a risk of being lost. Here is another link that talks about using rooting gel on plants a week before you take clones. Don't know if it works while in flowering, but it may worth a try on a few branches to see. https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=194854. If you try please let us know how it works for you. Good luck.

I took some cuttings.

Then put them in a clone kit.

Finally got roots after 9 days

Just put them on 18/6

Started flush on Friday. Tricomes are clear and cloudy.
Planning on harvest in another 1 - 1 1/2 weeks, as soon as I see a couple ambers. Am checking every day with a 45x.

Hopefully they will go into veg by the time the current crop drys, but that should give me about 3 weeks.

Your technique is solid. The only thing I would do different is keep the light on 24/7. With regular clones 18/6 is fine. But with flowering clones, you will get a faster reveg rate leaving the light on all the time.

This is a follow up to the clones.

I took some cuttings.

So now, four months later, here they are.

As you can see, they are not monster with stems, bit really tall.
My question, can I take two clones from the top of each plant at the same time?
I'm thinking I cut off once, then cut the cutting in half.
Thanks in advance

Yes u can just make sure there are a few nodes on each piece of cutting... It seems to me it's a little harder to get the bottom half of a cutting (that's been cut in half) to root but I've done it many times, so it's possible

What kind of clone kit do you have? It takes me forever to root cuts taken in flower.

When I do get them rooted, they take weeks to get back to vegetative growth.

I would bend it and let one of those side shoots grow out. It will grow quickly if you make it the closest shoot to the light. Then take that one and the actual top.

Did you have any trouble with mold? I tried to clone a branch with a bud on it, I came back and took the lid off to find a white fluffy ball grew around the whole thing, kinda looked like the silky white hairs on a dandelion. lol It was some kind of mold.

Use CloneX gel and spray. Have Rapid Rooter plugs.
The clones took a month to root, and another month to grow the funny leaves,(non-pointy).

I have the clones and mother plants in a small tent, away from the grenhouse, and dont have room to bend. I should have topped them last month, but didn't think about that.
Now, the plants are so tall I think I have to cut 1/2 of the tops off in order to build a mother plant with lots of shoots, otherwise the stem wont hold the weight.

Honestly, I just got dumb lucky, and didn't have any problems until the third crop.
Was rearranging the veg tent and discovered a small depression that had standing water yesterday.
One of the clones roots grew out of the container and was just laying on the floor in the runoff water.
I transplanted it into a bigger pot, cleaned all the water, and put the pots on a small stand so I can clean the floor easier.

Now am spraying the leaves with a 3 way that kills mites, fungus, and aphids.
Got some stuff to add to the nute tank that treats for a month, like the flea shots for dogs. I'm going to spray for another couple days until the preventative stuff works it's way up.

I barely watered the clones. Maybe once a week. Totally forgot about them for almost a month when the greenhouse and my day job was keeping me busy.

I'm guessing that kept the mold off.
Like I said, just got dumb lucky I didn't have a lot more stuff go wrong.
I was just pissed because the 1st crop only tested at 15%.
2nd one was easy over 20%. everyone that tried it said it had to be around 25.
I gave a sample to another grower that helped me out with some advice, he called a few days ago wanting a pound.
Unfortunately I had already taken most and made some topical creme.
The non-decarboxylated ones are freaking magic taking away joint pain without getting high.
Perfect for work.
