Clone stems curling?

G

Guest

This is my first attempt at cloning with a bubble cloner, I took 3 clones today. I put them in my bubble cloner, and now the stems are curled. Does this mean I took them too early or something? they were about 5-7 inches long each, with a few nodes both. Whats going on here? Pictures to follow

I was told this might be caused by the water level, I thought they had to be submerged? atleast the tips did? how far away should the water be from the stems?

EDIT -- Sorry for bad picture, but here is an update, I lowered the water levelt o about 1 1/2 inch away from the stem. Hard to get a picture of it.

ive had the stem curl like that once...on one particular strain... still rooted fine tho... dont know what caused it, but it all worked out in the end

ive never had a clone not root... and i keep the stems submerged about 1/4" into the water..

just my 2 cents... im sure others could help more

Why do you have airstones? are they beneficial? what would be the difference if you removed them and just let the air line set down there?

I bubble clone all mine DIY..... I submerge all of them.... I don't measure... I just stick em in and let 'em go for a swim.... I'll grab ya some pics.....

DIY bubble cloner

Pump:$6.95
airline:$1.25/25ft

Dont know, never seen anyone not use an airstone. Never really tried it without just the airline either. I did try to submerge them all, but they all curled upwards away from the water. they also seemed very flexible, not like when i snipped them.

normal tap water, ph is probably 7.4 or so. I lowered the water level some and they seem fine now. going to see how it turns out. Nice pictures, I think my clones are just really small and fragile compared to those.
