Clone 3 day wilt Mystery!

Okay, during the summer i move things from an outdoor building to inside basement so i can avoid excess heat issues.

inside and outside my Clones ( aeroponic cloner) clone just fine same as always by day 14- 20 we have a beautiful bushy set of pure white roots.

Here is where it gets weird.
Outside maybe a few clones dont make it and those are usually ones that didnt have very many roots and i should have culled them to begin with.

Now inside in the basement, The clones go from the cloner to the medium. ( last year 100% coco and perlite) This year 33/33/33 Coco/Pro Mix/Perlite. I poke a hole in the medium with my hand about the size of a dixie pong cup place the clone in and take about 2 cups of water pour it into the hole the medium floats up with the water and covers the roots and settles back down cover the roots and leaving the pant upright then i take a little bit of the medium and place on top for an even layer of medium. This is how i have always done it with no problems.

But...... Inside the basement the clones have about a 35% success rate once in the medium they stay healthy and fine but about day 3 they wilt droop over and most do not recover.

What is going on ?????? I cannot figure this out.

Some theories, The clones are in a cloner at the far side of the room getting very little light from a 600 watt HPS.

Theory 1
Once rooted and placed into medium they are placed under a 600 watt light about 3 feet away. Possibly Too much light, maybe they need a week of weak lighting to lets the roots adjust and harden off?

Theory 2
The room is too dry for the clones once they leave the cloner they are having a hard time adjusting to the medium without the water feeding the roots?

Anyone have anything like this happen that they where able to figure out what was causing it?

Thanks for any help

Try placing clear Dixie cup over clone for few days when you transplant. Slowly take cup off every day for a little while till the cuts harden off and you should be good to go. PEACE!

Thanks mardogg i was able to get a dome to cover 3 test plants i just did 3 days ago that are starting to droop.

Im going to leave the dome covering those plants and see if they make a bounce back.

If this turns out to be the issue, i will tranplant clones to smaller cups dome them off, let them establish roots into the medium harden them off for a week then transplant to larger containers and go back to the normal routine.

I will keep this updated

If the only difference is the medium, go back to what you had success with. I would plant the rooted cuttings in medium as soon as you see roots rather than waiting till they have long roots. Leave the newly transplanted clones in the same light and conditions for at least a day before moving them to the HPS. It's not low light. Low light is best for cloning. I'd put the HPS even higher, then drop it 6" every other day. Good luck. -granger

I say theory 1, try hitting them with less light for the first week of taking them out. Try it might work might not. I veg under 1000 watt hid and clone under flo. Once they have a root system I still leave them for about a week long than switch over.
