Climate for this strain?

I have some of Nirvanas Durban Poisons and was wondering what climate they grow best in since they are an outdoor strain? I live in the south where its hot and humid and my Durbans have been growing for 1 month now and are 1-2in. tall. Also have a couple indoor strains growing outside with them as well and are getting the same treatment but growing much better than the durbans. Anyone know if its just not the right climate?

They are fully in the sun. I used a mix of top soil and miracle grow's organic soil. they are in small pots atm and the top half is dry while the bottom half is wet. The bottom leaves turn yellow. I was watering every 3 days should I not water as much? Or more? I'm treating my other plants that are doing good the same way.

How small of a pot do you have these plants in? I would guess that they are rootbound, therefore not growing.

The Durbans are in larger pots while the others that are growing great are in smaller ones.
