CLEANING VINEGAR SMELL FROM 55 GALLON DRUM

Hey peeps - need some help. I was gifted a bunch of 55 gallon plastic drums that had stored some type of food in vinegar.

I have hit them with the power washer a few times, just cannot seem to get out the smell. Anyone have any suggestions? I am thinking something with baking soda, figured someone out here can give me some info.

Yeah baking soda is a base so mix that with water and let it sit in there a bit then rinse it out, it should react with any left over vinegar. The only thing is if the vinegar has soaked "into" the drum, you might have to rinse it out a bunch of times with the baking soda mixture. I had to do something similar to a resin casting pressure pot after using silicone caulk to level the bottom. It outgassed that acetic acid smell till I gave it a baking soda bath.

The vinegaranene terp won't evaporate? Just take the Boveda packs out!

Hmm.. Maybe persistent lingering smells aren't terpenes after all. Perhaps they are organic acids.. I say throw a bunch of grow store product in their, that seems to completely strip the organic smell from everything it touches.

Or maybe dishwasher soap and steaming hot water.

the smell is not in the glass. it's in the lid.
